Washington will host Minnesota in the opener (Sept. 11, 7 p.m. ET), followed by San Diego at Oakland (10:15 p.m. ET).

Why would it suck for those fans? Most will love to be on nat'l monday night TV.
That's great for ESPN and the NFL
The major networks could never do it because they always had news or some syndicated show to air the same night.
Increases AD revenue and exposure of the NFL
Well, the game is going to end at around 1:30 AM on a work night.
Most casual football fans don't watch the ending of 9 PM games.
There also will be a lot of youngens who will not be able to watch any part of the game just because of the start time.
this noob speaks the truth
Oakland and Minnesota might as well not show up because they will get discombobulated.
