In what has to be the strangest departure in the Charlotte Bobcats' brief history, the team cut shooting guard Kareem Rush Saturday, with just a handful of games left in the season.
Rush did not play in Friday's loss to the Chicago Bulls and later met with Bobcats coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff about his status.
This was the second time in the last six games that Rush did not play at all, by coach's decision, after being a starter for much of the season.
"We had a conversation, and it ended abruptly," Bickerstaff told the Observer Saturday. "The young man has an abundance of talent, and I hope he realizes that."
Asked why Rush didn't work out as a Bobcat, Bickerstaff replied, "It's probably my fault," without elaborating.
Bickerstaff indicated in a press release that the issue with Rush might relate to effort.
"The Bobcats are about two things -- hard work and maximum effort," Bickerstaff said. "With that in mind, we think it's best to go in a different direction with Kareem."
Rush makes about $3 million this season, but the Bobcats owe him no guaranteed money beyond this season.
He can't be on any playoff roster, so it would be useless for the Mavs.
he played good for la, didnt get to see any bobcat games
well spurs dont need another shooting guard
Actually, that'd make him the perfect Mav.

He'd fit right in, nobody else on that team can do in the playoffs either.![]()
"hard work and maximum effort"
Another talented balla with his head screwed up?
Spoiled because he was a Laker once upon a time?
These kids are really ing idiots.
Is there such a thing as a "playoff roster" any more?
Not in the traditional "locked in" sense, but players who have played in the NBA this year, and were released after the deadline can't play in any playoff games.
Rush will catch on with somebody. Career 40% 3 point shooting 2 guards don't stay out of work too long. He'll find a team that will not work him too hard, and will just let him play his game. It'll probably be a bad team, though. The good ones usually expect some sort of work ethic.
Well he would help us through this tough stretch we are having with these injuries.
LA will pick him upcount on that
If I were the Spurs, I would sign him.
Stash him on IR.
His good shooting, and the good influences with the Spurs would help.
Swallow your pride Pop and RC, and sign the kid. COME ON.
