man, i really wanted the spurs to repeat this year, but i don't see it. watched the pistons deposit miami's hopes of beating them in the playoff in the gutter last night, and they just seem unstoppable. so i looked at our beatings at the hands of the pistons and found something interesting:

    - ginobilli gave us 16 points compared to finley's 0 and 3 points in both games, so there's no reason to think he couldn't have done so in game one and maybe we win that

    - nazr played 17 mins the first game and put in 10 points but only got 6 mins in the second and didn't score (he outscored mcdyess both times but hasn't outrebounded him)

would we have won either game with changes to any of those two items? who knows, but it seems like those games should have been a lot closer than 15 points.

when playoffs come i think pop mite start gino from the bench instead of finley, since finley needs alot of shots to be effective.

Any reason for hope? Let's see, defending champs, just about got their conference sewed up, got a little more bench talent than last year....nope. Y'all ought to give up right now, and pass the word on to Pop & co.

    You need Hope?

    1) Pop>>>>>>Flip

    2) Duncan seems to be turning a corner, before the Kings game he had scored at least
20 points in 5 out of 6 games. So unless there's a back to back game in the playoffs, I don't expect Duncan to have many 11 point games.

    3) And as someone previously mentioned, with the Nets peaking at the right time, Pistons finally have someone who may at least give them some trouble in the playoffs. The Eastern conference is a joke. Aside from the Nets, I doubt the Pistons will even break a sweat through the first two rounds.

"don't expect Duncan to have many 11 point games."

Tim was pretty useless vs Kings, but Tim+Tony+Manu was much worse = 36 pts

We can talk about the Spurs getting into their groove but Pistons are likely to have home court throughout the NBA playoffs, if they were to meet in the Finals, home court may be the key.

Unless Flip just goes clueless in the Finals.

what makes you think they might get passed the NEts, or the Heat, or the Pacers, those teams turn up in the playoffs as well, and you've seen how the nets have handed the pistons their burnt asses

The same way the Spurs will have with the Clippers/Mavs/Suns.

i'm a bandwagoner for recognizing we've had our heads handed to us twice by a one-year removed champion with the best record in the league who, by current stats, plays nearly as good defense as the spurs while scoring more points and who seem locked to have the homecourt advantage which, while not a guarantee of success, is surely something you'd want instead of not want? what's more, i haven't mentioned any one game (to be accurate, i mentioned the two games the spurs lost to the pistons and am pointing out why we might have had a better shot with some lineup changes). but sign me up, what the .

Seriously,of course Spurs have a chance, health is all that matters to give one of the strongest teams on paper of all time (and certainly Spurs hx) a chance.

Was in Reno last week and various bookies still have Spurs right there to win le - they don't make bets the other way unless think they can win.
