Duncan on Dirk? Are you ting me? I want to hear your explanations for Duncan on Dirk when Dirk was providing the final margin of victory by going on a one man scoring run late in the fourth quarter. Please, humor me.

From the six minute mark down to 1:49 on the clock, we had TD on Dirk. Why stop there? , just put in Sanders to guard Dirk.

    What a ing idiot.

I know Bowen got burned in the third, but come crunch time you gotta put him back on Dirk, Kori.

Dirk knew he could take Tim off the dribble, Tim knew it and gave him room, so he shot jumpers over him. Everyone in that gym knew TD couldn't guard him. Everyone watching at home knew it. my first born who hasn't even been conceived yet knew it.

You're telling me that I should expect Tim Duncan on one bum wheel to guard Dirk straight up?

Well the mistake I saw Pop make -- and he thought about it long and hard -- was with a little over 2 minutes left I believe and the Spurs down by 5, Pop called Bowen to come in. He stood with Bowen for a long time talking on the sideline, then motioned him in. At the last second, he pulled Bowen's jersey back and said never mind.

Dirk scored on the next two possessions before Pop could get Bowen back in the game.

It was obviously a tough decision to make, as I've never seen Pop contemplate so much about a subs ution. But even with Bowen in, Dirk might have scored anyway.

    No Horry.

Bowen can't play him the whole game. It was a bad game, we got beat. I don't think the Mavs could play that good 4 games out of 7. We shall see, see you guys in round 2.

In playoff matchups in the past, the Spurs have used Duncan and Rose to guard Dirk.

Bowen has never really matched up with Dirk for extensive minutes over the years. In the playoffs this year, you'll see Horry a lot in that situation guarding Dirk.

Nobody was stopping Dirk in the second half.

If Pop kept Bowen, AHF wold have started the same thread with different names.

Answer the question, who was guarding Dirk effectively after the third Q. Oberto?

    I giggle.

Sadly, Oberto was doing the best job on him. That should tell us something.

Duncan's defense for the most part wasn't bad.

And there was nothing wrong with the defense Bruce played on him in the third. I guess Pop was just hoping that a different face might cool him off.

In the NBA, if a great offensive player is hitting them, the only thing you can really do is keep the ball out of his hands. No way to do that with a 7-footer who's demanding the ball.

Dirk does this sometimes during the regular season. He can get hot.

Let's see what happens in the playoffs.

The only way I fault the Spurs for Dirk exploding tonight is for not having The Elusive Long Three. Tonight would have been a nice night to put Long Three on Dirk to mix it up.

Dirk was 4-for-13 in the first half. 5-for-6 in the 3rd and 2-for-5 in the 4th.

2-for-5 isn't killing Duncan. I don't see why you aren't ing about the 3rd and you are ing about the 4th.

That Sand dude Kori said been here all season probably is the Spurs hope for that.

I thought leaving Fabio in there Pop would've tried him on Dirk, he seemed to be able to move his feet well that one time he guarded him. Which would've left Tim down below, which puts a bigger body on Damp and knows when to switch better.

Maybe it's because the Spurs were switching on all pic-n-rolls by the Mavs.

The Spurs traditionally almost always switch on all PnRs when they play the Mavs. Even if it ends up with TP on Dirk. I don't quite get it, but that's been Pop's plan.

That may change with AJ at the helm now.
