I thought we had two excellent chances to close the gap to 2 points and to essentially regain the momentum late 4th.

82-78 with VanX, Fins, and SuperManu drilling 3s in a two minute span. What more could you ask for, except for Duncan or anyone to get a stop on Dirk. Someone does, he misses.

    1. Timmy (i think) misses a short shot and Fabs gets the rebound right near the basket. His feet are kind of awkward so to readjust he shuffles as he dribbles. Or does he? Fabs puts up shot and is obviously drilled for the foul. Tweet! Ref instead calls travelling on Fabs. Several Spurs and Fabs animatedly complained. Kori Tim anyone at game or better yet anyone taping game, did Fabs travel? Lame ESPN as usual does not replay any of the plays that really require another look.

Dirk misses again. Parker travels. Urrggg.
Jason Terrys running jumper is stuffed. Rebound Fabbs.

    Still 82-78
    2. Timmy does a drive and fakes the shot and does a nice handoff to Fabs. Again right near the rim. Instead of going up, he takes a dribble and is right under the basket. Instead of going up hard, he passes wayy out to Parker. 19 footer is a brick. Looked like all Fabs needed to do is go up hard and it would have been auto foul or made shot.

    What up Fabbs?
Anyone got the goods on these two plays.

Concur with Kori he looked good in the 1st half, but 2nd half he looked way out of position on several rotations. Also on O he does not even look for the shot at all, it's like he is so Overpass-happy he is like Barry was only 5Xs as bad. The D knows he is gonna pass so just sit back and look to guard who he is passing to.

Props to Fabbs for the boards in the 1st half.

Oberto is horrible under the rim on offense. He's not very good overall on offense unless they catch him on a cut.

I saw Oberto getting out of his car the other day. That guy is way to tall not to be able to finish with a dunk under the basket. He must have Rasho hops.

The guy is tall, but has no hops.

    Said that back in October.

Don't know why this is an amazing "relevation"

Larry Bird didn't have much hops either.
So the point Kris makes about Fabs being tall enough to get the ball to the rim is valid.
It's more mental when you are standing under the basket.

I'd like to know if Fabs did travel or not on the 1st one.

What kills me is NONE of our big men ever seem interested in going up and DUNKING THE DAMN BALL.

Does Pop discourage this in practice, so in a game they don't know how?

Whatever the anti-dunk disease is, it seems to have spread to all our big men.

Let's hope someone comes up with a cure for this dreaded disease before the playoffs begin.

Dunking the ball in a crowd under the rim with 2 hands is aka "going up strong" to insure a score or a foul.

Think about Tim's wimpy, game-blowing, uncontested put-back of Manu's miss in last June's Finals Game5. He could have been the game-winning hero with a dunk, but instead he need Robert to save his ass and erase the memory of pretty bad game from Tim.

Watching Oberto flail away under the rim brought back fond memories of Malik around the basket.

Yes, he traveled on the first play.

Fabricio did what he could yesterday. He did a great job tapping out rebounds in the first half. When he comes in the game, he brings a lot of energy that works for him .. and also works against him. When he's on the floor, things start to turn very helter-skelter and the offense gets a little out of sync. I like him, but he is what he is and people shouldn't expect much more of him. (Side note: I'm not sure if he's worth 2.5M/year though.)

I have seen oberto playing basketball for a while and he can definitly play well in offense. But he doesnt receive the ball in offense and i dont think pop gives the ball him. You just have to watch the final of the world cup (2002) when argentina lost against serbia, oberto was without a doubt the most valuable player of the game, he scored 27 and people say that DIVAC is still seeking oberto in INDIANAPOLIS.

Fabricio has a good nose for going after the ball, and doesn't seem shy about taking contact in doing it.

He's useful as a backup big and should be a lot better his sop re year.

Was I just seeing things or near the end of the game did I see Oberto, accidentally, do a put-back for Dallas? Once I saw that I was like "OK Oberto, you did great in the first half but its time to sit your ass down".

You were seeing things. If you had been listening they said it looked for a second like he was playing international ball and was going to snatch it out of the hoop, then realized he coudn't and then pulled his hands back.

Yeah, it looked like he put it back, but according to the announcers he yanked back at the last second, and it fell back in.
