MIAMI (AP) -- Shaquille O'Neal had his second career triple-double, Antoine Walker scored a season-high 32 points, and the Miami Heat overcame Dwyane Wade's absence to beat Toronto 106-97 on Tuesday night and send the Raptors to their ninth straight loss.
O'Neal finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, doing so in only 28 minutes because of foul trouble. And Walker, who was shooting only 30 percent and averaging eight points per game in April -- as the Heat got off to a 2-4 start -- connected on 13 of 26 shots, plus added eight rebounds and five assists.
"If Antoine can play like that, we can win the whole thing," O'Neal said immediately after the game.
Toronto was within three points late in the third quarter before the Heat pulled away, with Walker's 3-pointer with 5:16 remaining -- followed by a kiss of his hands, which he raised skyward -- giving Miami a 101-86 lead. The Raptors didn't get closer than 10 again until the final seconds, with the outcome decided.
While the Raptors remained horrid, Mike James stayed torrid for the Raptors. He scored 32 points, his fourth straight game cracking the 30-point mark, and Morris Peterson added 23 for Toronto -- which stayed close by hitting 13 3-pointers.

Miami, with Wade and his 27.5 points per game at home with a flu-like virus, trimmed its magic number for clinching the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs to three over New Jersey, which was in action later Tuesday night at Chicago.
Derek Anderson had 17 points, Udonis Haslem had 15 points and nine rebounds and Gary Payton added 15 points for the Heat.
O'Neal's only other triple-double was Nov. 20, 1993 -- when he scored 24 points, grabbed 28 rebounds and blocked 15 shots for the Orlando Magic in a win over the New Jersey Nets.
He got this one in a different fashion, flipping passes out of the post for much of the night. The clincher came with 7:07 left, when he found Shandon Anderson alone under the basket for his 10th assist.
Heat coach Pat Riley came into this game demanding a better effort than what his team showed in a 93-84 home loss to Orlando on Sunday, and Miami obviously took notice.
Walker needed only 60 seconds for a personal 9-0 run -- two three-point plays, then a 3-pointer -- late in the first quarter, a burst that gave Miami a 26-14 lead. He finished with 11 points in the period and 19 in the half, helping the Heat claim a 61-51 lead at intermission.
Miami jumped out quickly even without much early help from O'Neal, who went to the bench 4:12 into the game with two fouls -- the second of which led to Riley getting a technical foul for going onto the court in protest.
O'Neal's first shot came with 10:37 left in the half, a dunk that went through the net and smashed into Raptors' forward Matt Bonner. Another dunk by O'Neal put Miami up 49-37, before consecutive 3-pointers by James and Peterson -- two of six by Toronto in the half -- got the Raptors within 49-43.
But Derek Anderson hit a pair of 3-pointers for Miami in the half's final 3:04, sending the Heat into the break with a 10-point lead.
Walker's layup with 5:32 left in the third -- off one of O'Neal's assists -- put Miami up 73-61, but the Raptors outscored the Heat 16-7 over the next 4 minutes and drew within 80-77 on another 3-pointer by James.

James wasn't on the floor when the second quarter began, ending a streak of 68 minutes, 6 seconds of consecutive on-court time. He played all 48 minutes in Toronto's loss to Charlotte on Sunday. ... Yeah, snaq, having someone hit 50% against one of the crappiest teams in the entire L is really something. Bring on the Pistons
Easy to do that against the freaking TORONTO RAPTORS. Try it against the Pistons or Spurs in the playoffs, not going to happen, barring some sort of divine intervention.
Shaq will step up.....
as you guys always say..........regular season doesnt mean anything, wins or losses....
its a new game in the playoffs and he has been there many times, i know alot of people hate on the Heat but i wouldnt mind seeing them get to the Finals.......just to shut up the haters
if Wade stays healthy, it will be a whole different ballgame come playoff time
but i still think Walker is a huge mistake lol........is this his first decent game all year?

Thank for the good night 'Toine. Duncan and Nazr let me down (a combined 8-24 from the field). James (32 points), Parker (27 points), and Walker (32 points) really carried my team.
Back to reality. Good performance by Shaq. I still see him as the Kareem of his team. He's old and he's not going to do it every night. They needed this win. I think they just cleared up any question about whether they will be the 2nd or 3rd seed. That's important because they have struggled with the Nets, and it will be nice to have homecourt in the second round.
It was a pleasure to watch him earlier in his career. That 1999-00 season was spectacular. He had all the skills and abilities to be the best of all-time. I just think he lost sight of his stated goal, and settled for being the best of his generation. The problem with that is Tim Duncan has matched or surpassed his accomplishments, so now that is even arguable.
