hey guy i just saw on hoopshype.com that fred hoiberg almost came to the spurs. would he have fit in? would he get playing time if he joined the team?

Hoiberg went on free-agent visits with the Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns in recent months. The San Antonio Spurs, Hoiberg revealed Monday, also had interest.

"I had great meetings with the coaches. I had great meetings with the management," Hoiberg said. "What it came down to was when I met with the teams' medical staff, they all thought I had too much risk to play.

"After those visits — after also sending my records to the San Antonio Spurs and hearing the same thing from their doctor, having some concerns about me playing — I have decided to retire from the game of basketball."
