HOUSTON -- Former Houston Rockets and New Jersey Nets forward Eddie Griffin says his next team will be the Minnesota Timberwolves.

"I've got to make this work," the troubled player told Houston television station KRIV on Monday before catching a flight to Minneapolis. "They are a good team and the best fit out there."
Representatives of at least two teams, including the Timberwolves, had been in Houston last week to watch Griffin work out.
Kevin McHale, vice president of basketball operations for the Timberwolves, acknowledged some interest in Griffin.
"If I mess this up, it will give people the impression I am not trying to do the right thing," Griffin told the television station.
Griffin, the seventh pick overall in the 2001 NBA draft, missed the entire 2003-04 season because of ongoing legal battles and substance abuse issues. He has been working with former NBA coach John Lucas, who overcame his own substance abuse issues.
Griffin was given 18 months probation in March after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of deadly conduct. He was ordered to continue outpatient treatment for alcohol abuse.
Griffin also was fined $1,000 by a judge who suspended his driver's license for six months following a marijuana conviction in January.
So does KG punch Eddie or Eddie shoot KG first?
With Cassell already rocking the boat and now this, the Wolves could spontaneously combust nicely at some point during the season.
This is what I would do if I were a GM:
After my star player punches a teammate, and my starting pg threatens to hold out for a ridiculous contract extension, I would get a "character" player to come in and provide a steadying influence.
Hence, Eddie. :embarasse
I'm just waiting for someone to come in here and say that the Spurs should have tried to sign Griffin. How he is a lottery talent who would come cheap and just needs an environment like the Spurs to set his head straight.
The Spurs have great character and chemistry because they only sign guys that fit the profile. We're more likely to take a chance on a a guy with less talent because his personality will fit with the team better than a more talented person who has issues. Maybe one day that will bite us in the ass but it's good to see that we really haven't signed anyone who could threaten to rip the team apart from the inside out. Sometimes I wish the Spurs would take a chance on one of these fools but when I see the chemistry problems other teams have, I'm usually glad we didn't.
The Timberwolves have Sprewell up for an extension, Cassell potentially holding out for one, Garnett punching teammates (Although they'd drop Rickert in a hurry if they thought it would continue to be a problem) and now someone like Griffin on the team. Although I see Griffin as more likely to implode than take the team with him, it's just more potential instability to start out the season. Considering we were one game behind Minny last year for best record, a slow start for them would obviously nothing but good for us.
I live in Houston now and can say that Griffen was both a disappointment and an embarassment. Probably due to dope as well as alcohol. He was a distraction in the locker room because he missed practices, etc. and while he showed flashes at times of the skills that made him a high draft pick, he seemed to regress.
I guess there is such a thing as redemption, but the Timberwolves are taking on a load with Griffin.
Why get Griffin when you have the same player in Ebi?
The Spurs should have signed Eddie Griffin.
I thought he was going to the Lakers?
Didn't he shoot a girl at his house?Griffin was given 18 months probation in March after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of deadly conduct. He was ordered to continue outpatient treatment for alcohol abuse.
So since he was drinking, it's a rehabable misdemeanor?
Since the T-wolves appers to be shopping for quality individuals, I wonder if they'd be interested in the Jayson Williams comeback?
Minny appears to be taking the Portland Path, talent no matter what. This is only to the good for the Spurs. Any team this fractured will not cohese for the playoffs.
Ebi is not even close to Griffen. Ebi is not ready to play yet. The wolves need a servicable 4 that can put a few quality minutes in. There really isn't much out there. They wanted a guy like gary trent but better, someone that can play a couple minutes a night and not totally scew things up. Ebi's talent is there but he needs to calm down. Ebi is more of a 3 anyway. I guess the wolves look at it like they get a servicable big man like they wanted and as a bonus someone with potential. I would have much rather preferred a rough and tumble guy like an Oakley but we'll see.
FWIW, damn near everyone said the wolves would implode last year, too many ego's, bad CHEMISTRY and yet they were the posterchild for chemistry last year.
Rickert has a slim chance at making the team anyway since he is more potential than a guy that can put in a few quality minutes. That and a 3rd PG is a neccessity.
Earv, Kandi, KG, Madsen, Hassell, Hoiberg, Wally, Spree, Sam, Thud, Ebi, Griffen are already 12.
troy hundson is not even healthy yet(SEE NBA FORUM)
and no sam wow
Bump (sorry).
(CBS) MINNEAPOLIS A lawsuit was filed Thursday against Minnesota Timberwolves forward Eddie Griffin and the Minneapolis Police Department in connection with an accident involving Griffin in late March.
Interim Police Chief Tim Dolan ordered an internal investigation of the incident after the WCCO-TV I-TEAM contacted him last week about the crash, reports WCCO-TV's Caroline Lowe.
The lawsuit alleges Griffin was visibly drunk when he crashed his Cadillac Escalade into a parked Chevy Suburban in front of a store in southeast Minneapolis.
It also claims Griffin told a witness he was watching pornography and masturbating as he drove that night.
Witnesses said the two officers who handled the incident did not test Griffin for alcohol. Instead, they gave him tickets for driving without a license and inattentive driving and also drove him to his home in St. Paul.
WCCO-TV has obtained a copy of the store's security video and audio of the 911 calls from that night and plans to air them Thursday at 11 p.m. ET.
I knew having a tv screen where your airbags are would serve a purpose.......

yeah, here's the video to go along with it. It has the surveilance camera with him walking into the store drunk trying to buy the store clerk a new car not to report it. What an idiot. It's sad though that the police won't do a thing about it.
This just about kills any trade value he might have had.
This team is already the laughingstock franchise in the history of the league. This just adds to it.![]()
I thought I was the only person who masturbated while driving.
I bet he shook those guys hands or was touching em on the shoulder and stuff ... and I'd also bet that he didn't wash his hands after jerking off.
How do we know that he wasn't jerking off in the store?

so next time i'm jacking off while driving and i hit somebody's car ... alls i have to do is promise them a car and i'll be a-ok.
I just watched the video. He says repeatedly that he's drunk while offering to by the guy a car (but not a Bentley) and then you can hear the cops telling the witnesses, "He's not getting a DWI"
Busted.
