Stciky through the playoffs maybe Kori, sometimes I forget this as shown in that "other" post =)
This is issue has been addressed here 100's of times, but I'll recap it for you again.
You can't post any NBA video here unless you have permission from the NBA to post it. That's the rules of the NBA -- not me. You can't post clips of the video, links to the video, pieces of the video. You can't ask other posters to give you copies of a video, etc.
I don't read every post here and have signatures turned off a lot, so if you have NBA video in your signature -- please take it out.
Stciky through the playoffs maybe Kori, sometimes I forget this as shown in that "other" post =)
This includes YouTube stuff, correct?
Of NBA games? Yes.
What about webcams?
Shouldn't YouTube be shutdown then? I'm gonna send an email to the NBA about that then.
I don't care what they do there. I just police this forum, no other site.
Don't be a NARC.
Technically the NBA claims that the "pictures, descriptions or accounts" of the game are their property; they not only could theoretically go after someone just for discussing the game, they have sued companies for doing so in the past.
I therefore ask this question because I honestly don't know where the league draws the line: Do they consider animated GIF files video or pictures? Does the fact that it contains any portions of video in it make it video? I would err on the side of caution, but the animated GIFs are fun to post on occasion.

owwwwwwwned, owned, owned owwwwwned...you got owwwwwwwwned
We draw the line here on this forum as photos are okay, any video, video clips or even animated gifs are normally not. I think there is a specific rule regarding if it's less than 3 seconds long its okay or something to that effect. But we prefer not to play at the edge of that rule (I'm not sure if that rule even still exists).
This line in our terms of service: "All logos and still images are the property of the NBA and/or its affiliates, unless indicated as original design work and/or property of FullSportPress." is why logos and photos are okay.
This line indicates we cannot have any videos, clips, etc.
"Visitors to FullSportPress.com forum message boards are not permitted to post any material which:
Contains any video or links to any NBA game video or video clips that are copyrighted by the NBA or any broadcasting en y. "
So much for fair use. Add another reason for hating lawyers.
Just as I can quote a few sentences from an article, we should be able to quote a few seconds from a video without violating copyright. Allowing short video quotes would actually help promote the NBA by generating interest and discussion.
What about things like the Road to the Championship video?
Do you have permission to redistribute it?
I agree. If anyone can show me where the NBA grants permission for a few seconds of video, I'll look into it. But no one has been able to show me that.
What about a claymation of Tim Duncan one on one against Manu Ginobili?
There was a time that you could listen to Spurs games on RealAudio from the WOAI feed. It seems like someone being able to listen to NBA games from anywhere in the world for free would promote interest in the game as well, but they are willing to forego that for the potential income they can squeeze from existing fans and captive audiences.
My father owns the NBA, I'll talk to him tomorrow.
I'm not sure...that was my question.
.....you dont. You and your empty wallet and bank accounts would know if you did because they would.... well..... be empty.
Can you not bump an old topic without looking like a dumbass?
Thanks, Kori. I've never posted any video but I didn't know and might have in the future.
Damn...I didn't know this one.
You might want to turn on signatures....lots of work to do.
I want to not piss off Kori she looks like a she could be a good DA in the court roomBut I can see how new posters who never read this topic can make the same mistake.
Why not add this rule to the main sign on page?
