I think playoffs are the only game winning shots that really matter. Here are some memorable ones that come to mind and to me are the best of the bunch. Are there any others that are equally important?

Brent's exciting 3 last night in Game 2, was do or die, because SA had no timeouts left and fouling the Kings on rebound would not have mattered. Spurs go up 2-0.

Horry's 3 in OT with 5 secs left of game 5 of 05 Finals to win the game, by 1 point. (Most important shot in Spurs' history, IMO)

Sean's Memorial Day Miracle in 99 to beat Portland, also in Game 2.

I rank them this way (as I mentioned last night in chat, still stand by it):

    1. Sean's Memorial Day Miracle
    2. Horry's Dad's Day Dagger
    3. Barry's yet to be named 4/25/06 shot.

Horry's shot is only edging out Barry's because A. it was on enemy territory court & B. it was a Finals game.

Depends on what SA does from here. If they don't win the championship it will end up forgotten. Unfair, but that's what happens.

The reason why I think Horry's shot is more important is because it was in game 5, and had that shot missed, Detroit would have won the NBA championship in game 6 in SA.

Sean's did not matter so much, because SA was the best team and they swept Portland anyway, so losing that game 2 really would not have affected the Spurs championship drive in 99.

I respectfully disagree. In '99, the Spurs had a choker's rep and that shot was pivotal in changing perceptions, not only of the general public but of the team itself.

SA had lost plenty of playoff series to inferior teams before that. Sean's shot said, finally, homey don't do dat no mo'.

Still, the Spurs swept the Blazers, as they swept their opponents before them, they were by far the best team in the NBA, with no equal that year.

Aren't you forgetting Avery's Championship clinching 2 pointer against New York? sure it wasn't as heart-palpatating, but it was still a nice clutch series capper.

I did not forget, I loved that shot, but I have to diss AJ right now, he is the enemy.

But if he doesn't make the shot, they go back to Portland 1-1 not 2-0, the ol' self-doubt bug creeps in again, and God only knows if they would have won the series. Prior experience would dictate not.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Duncan in game 6 against the Sonics last year must be in the top 10. Not a jump shot, but a clutch basket.

How important are great plays or amazing shots in the FIRST ROUND of the playoffs to a franchise that wins championships? How memorable really?

    Oh yeah that was sweet.

The Negative of Spurs Lore would be that .04 Game, with Kobe's, then Tim's, then eep...Fisher's...

I think it's apart of the Team though.
...But it wasn't all a letdown, since seeing the Pistons Help Obliterate the "Lakers ReLoaded" Dynasty once and for all, helped bring about some comfort. I think that's why Spurs really respect the Pistons.

Nowhere near the top 10. Even if we lost this game, we would have won this series.

For example, HOrry's shot last year >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Barrys shot

I don't know about how memorable it will be, but Brent just keeps raising that trade value of his. By the end of the postseason the Spurs will get half of NOK for him. I'm with Jamstone on this one; while dramatic the shot was in the first round, in San Antonio, to tie the game against a depleted opponent that the Spurs had no business being down to in the first place. It's a great play but I don't think it will be remembered because it's from a game that I'm sure some would just as soon forget.

Not that important. And right now, this thread is kind of premature, we'll have to wait, for the 14 other WINS to earn, before putting it up to rankings.

Horry's was everything you could ever ask for in 05': vindication, saved Timmy's ass, etc. etc.

Horry is easily the #1 shot on the list.

That was essentially a championship winning shot. Everything else happened at times when you could argue that we could have come back and still won a series.

Horry doesn't hit that shot, this team chokes away the series to Detroit last year.

I have a feeling there will be other shots more important than Barry's in this postseason if the Spurs go on to win the le. So I don't think it will rank up there with Horry's and Sean's.

But The Barry Bounce was still great.

it was a great shot. i was there and the building went nuts. i don't know how historically memorable it would be, but it was crazy to watch that shot bounce around on the rim, then finally go in.

Seans shot in 99, without it we lose the next game. We played our absolute worst game and the Blazers played their best and we still beat them. It broke their will.

You guys are forgeting Duncans shot game 2 vs lakers 99 ; in 99 we struggled in every game 2 losing to Minn and NY. Lakers have a foul to give but Kurt Rambis "forgets" to tell Shaq and Kobe, Duncan backs down Shaq gets doubled by Kobe, turns around and flips in the shot. Ooops. Then Kobe inbounds the ball off of Derek Fishers head game over.

Barry's NIOSA Bounce is #3 on mine. #2 is Sean's Memorial Day Miracle. #1 is Horry's Detroit's Dagger.
