I think the first round have resulted in some poor quality matchups...Bavetta is in a world of his own though, I do turn the channel any time he refs a non spurs game.
Or have the Playoffs been consumed by the officiating? It just seems like the games are going a lot slower and have no type of flow to them. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that they have been deciding games (except for NJ/Ind game 1). I was just looking at some of the box scores from the first couple of games to the PO's and there have been a lot of FT's taken with a lot of PF calls. I know that Bavetta, Jack Nies and Bennett Salvatore run tight ships but they also take away from the game.
IMHO there are way too many touch fouls being called in this years PO's and its making it hard to watch some of these games. I've already stopped watching a couple of games as soon as I found out that Bavetta was going to be involved. Tonights game with LA and Denver with like 4 mins left in the 3rd, Denver has already attempted 33 FTs. It seems like everytime down the court there's a whistle.
I believe that some of these officials should be reserved for games like game 3 in Sac with Ron Ron coming back and a hostile crowd. That would be the type of game that Bavetta or Nies would thrive on because they are mostly concerned with keeping guys in check rather than having a good flow to the game.
Well I'm getting off my soap box but let me know what ya'll think about it. I could just be reading too much into it so I would like to hear your input.

yes Bavetta and Wood sucks
both teams are getting ripped every time they get the ball
I always perceived the playoffs being more physical with less whistles but this year has been just more whistles.
is Leon Wood doing a playoff game??
my lord.....
With Bavetta mind you![]()
The Denver/LA game was painful to watch.
Goes to show, how absolutely far, and pathetic, the NBA refs are right now. With Bavetta mind you
Leon Wood DOES a playoff game, and Bavetta is STILL allowed to do games.
Its pathetic.
tell me about it, both teams got ripped on so many calls it wasnt funny
the game took 25minutes extra coz of all the stoppages
Tonights game was almost a replica of last years Spurs/Nuggets game in Denver.
hey man that was a great win for your team tonight. i hope my team can do the same.
Yeah except Denver actually won![]()
referres suck. my charlotte bobcats suck. i wish i was a spurs fan. can you help me?
I think bavetta is 90 years old. How is he still allowed to call games?
He's around 68. And what's crazy is Jack Nies is even older.
i like to think i am smart enough not to watch a clippers/nuggets game. unless k-mart stormed the court and beat karl with a basketball about the head area. that would be worth watching, but not basketball between those teams.![]()
68? wow. the nba doesnt like new blood, does it? i hope they at least got him a good optomitrist.

byron scott looks like he is about to kick some ass!! i wish the bobcats could kick some ass. maybe they'll let us play in the ncaa...
i think they will be better next year though.
Hasn't someone gotten suspended in like every single game so far? Or a technical that's gotten on Sportscenter? My god. Chill out.
yeh im sure the homecrowd will get the Kings going
going to be a tough game for both teams

Refs are controlling the games more than usual this year.
You are absolutely right. I was thinking the same thing. Rather than more contact being allowed it seems as though the playoffs are being called tighter than the regular season.
