Let's go back to last season...and make an important observation about Game 5s:

First Round Game 5: eliminated Denver
W Semifinals Game 5: went up 3-2 and zoomed in on the kill
W Finals Game 5: eliminated Phoenix
NBA Finals Game 5: Horry. Nuff said.

    Spurs in Six.

    2004, 2nd round, Game5, Lakers @ Spurs.

It's often quoted by the ESPN/TNT commentators that winners of Game5 go on to win the series at a very high percentage.

For the Spurs (and the Kings), Game5 is the "win or go fishing" game.

The chances of coming back from 2-3 to win both Game6 and 7 are extremely small.

Since Popovich has been the coach, the Spurs has only lost one game when the series is tied 2-2 and that one game was on a .4 second luck shot.

I actually think being 2-2 is good for the Spurs in the long haul for the playoffs but that just may be my optimism.

Can't remember the last time the Spurs were down 2-3 and came back to win the series, do you?

Game 5 is do or die.
