While I'd love to go, the cowboys game will be playing at that time. And even though I love the spurs, the cowboys game wins out b/c it's a regular season game.

See The Spurs For Free!
http://www.nba.com/spurs/news/spurs_...ge_041006.html
It’s Game Time for the Spurs and what better way to show it than to have twice the fun this weekend. Tickets for the San Antonio Spurs 2004-05 season will go on sale to the public this Sunday, October 10, at 1:00 p.m. Once fans have their tickets for the hottest games in town, they can stay and watch their favorite Spurs players in a FREE Spurs Scrimmage at the SBC Center that begins at 2:00 p.m. (doors open at 1:30 p.m.).
Seating for the Spurs Scrimmage will be first come, first serve and parking will also be available for fans at no cost. The Coyote and Silver Dancers will greet fans as they enter the building. As part of the action-packed scrimmage, the “Voice of the Spurs” Stan Kelly will emcee the event.
While I'd love to go, the cowboys game will be playing at that time. And even though I love the spurs, the cowboys game wins out b/c it's a regular season game.
There were about 3-4,000 last year, my estimate, so everybody got to sit in the multi-$100 seats. It was great to be so close that the incessant and loud sqeaking of rubber on varnish took some getting used to. And the speed at which these guys move is much more evident up close than from a TV camera shot from 200 feet.
People cheered and clapped every dunk or 3-pointer by anybody, even when just screwing around (I guess most fans were still delirious from the NBA championship a couple months earlier). The timed catch-and-shoot-to-the-music game with Spurs paired with kids pulled from the waiting line was wonderful. The Spurs had as much fun as the kids.
I sat right across from the Spurs bench. Manu had a bruised thigh, so he sat and jawed the entire evening. What a motor mouth.
so you have to buy some regular season tickets to be able to watch the scrimmage? you cant just show up to watch and not buy anything?Once fans have their tickets for the hottest games in town, they can stay and watch their favorite Spurs players in a FREE Spurs Scrimmage
i'm pretty sure you can show up and just watch without having to buy any tickets....
i'll prob go....i wanna see our spurs, and my skins don't play til nightime....![]()
I went a few years ago when it was at the A-Dome. It was pretty fun seeing them up that close.
Bandit, you don't have to buy anything. It's an open scrimmage. You can just show up. We didn't go last year; we'll probably go this Sunday.
We are going too. Who else is going?
I can't go for obvious reasons but Kori do you think you can like put up some clips of them if isn't too much trouble?
Kori will most likely got some audio and maybe some pictures from the game.
I heard that the Spurs are planning on running a fully timed and officiated Silver vs. Black game. I'm not sure if that's true, but that would be pretty fun to watch.

I can't believe more people didn't go to this. Only a couple thousand fans. It was good. They played Silver vs Black. They played two 12 minutes quarters plus a bonus 6 minutes.
Brent Barry was awesome. He scored 11 points and had dazzling assists in the first 12 minute period. Tony had a great alleyoop to Manu. Linton Johnson was the only player that didn't play. His ankle is still hurt. Pop said that it's just not responding though he's working hard to get back. Pop seemed disappointed and said they may have to hold him out for a while. (It seemed Pop had him penciled in the rotation.)
Barry did a very funny introduction to the crowd. Malik is in awesome shape. Very slimmed down and looks strong with better hops. I think Monteiro and Boumtje-Boumtje will get cut first. And I think the fight for the last roster spot between Thomas and Perry could go either way.
Beno had a 3 as the shot clock expired on one play. The crowd loved it. Bowen hit both his freethrows. Unfortunately Duncan missed all four of his.
That's about it.
I kept track of all the scoring on my notepad. I'll list out who scored what in a few minutes.
What kind of introduction was it? How was Beno?
First 12 minute quarter
Silver - 29 Black - 22
Black
Duncan 6
TP 2
Manu 6
Bowen 4
Rasho 2
Perry 0
Monteiro 0
Horry 2
Boumtje 0
Silver
Beno 4
Marks 4
Barry 11
Devin 2
Malik 2
Thomas 2
Massenburg 2
Sato 2
Linton hurt
How concerned should I be that the team with Timmy, Tony, Manu, Rasho and Bruce lost this quarter to a team of scrubs?
Second 12 minute quarter
Black - 27 Silver - 22
Black
Duncan 6
TP 2
Manu 4
Bowen 5
Rasho 0
Perry 2
Monteiro 2
Horry 2
Boumtje-Boumtje 2
Sato 2 (He switched teams)
Silver
Beno 5
Marks 0
Barry 5
Devin 0
Malik 9
Thomas 1
Massenburg 2
Johnson hurt
It's a scrimmage; they're not playing to their fullest.
Barry is going to be awesome for this team, but the team is going to have to get used to him like they did Manu. He had several great touch passes go off players heads and chests as they weren't lookng for them.
Rasho still doesn't dunk.
Horry still does.
Barry REALLY still does.
Beno looked fine for his second day of contact. Has a nice stroke.
Sato I believe changed teams halfway through -- Don't know if that is significant.
The black team ran Parker at the 2 and Perry at the 1 for a couple of sets, so I have to think that they plan on giving a Parker/Udrih combo some run this season.
All our bigs look to be in pretty good shape, maybe Malik gets some minutes at the three here and there.
Final six minutes. Duncan scored the first 3 buckets.
Black - 13 Silver - 12
Black
Duncan 6
TP 3
Perry 2
Rasho 2
Silver
Malik 4
Beno 2
Malik 2
Massenburg 2
Barry 2
Sato had at least five or six rebounds. His arms are ridiculous. He looked fine. Beno looked good. He's wearing a sleeve on his knee, but he distributed well and hit some timely shots.
It's hard to explain Barry's introduction. Here's my best attempt.
This team is very diverse. In the morning when we get to practice, we have to say "Bonjour" to Tony and Romain. Then when we see Manu and Valter, it's simple, we say, "Buenos Dias". Then I see Ruben and say "Hima bowa" (or whatever) -- that means "Good morning" in his language. Then I see Rasho and Beno, and I have to say, "..." (Good morning) in Slovenian. Then I see Sean Marks -- that's easy -- "G'day Mate."
And then I see Linton, Marque and James Thomas and I say, "Fo' Shizzle My Nizzle".
That's enough of the comedy, I'll be here all week. Thank you very much.
So Kori, do you see Sato making the team?
I think Sato is in. I think the 15th roster spot is between Perry and Thomas. I think Boumtje-Boumtje and Monteiro are out. But I asked Pop today and he said that he's going to wait as long as possible before he starts cutting people because they are all playing hard and it's hard to look someone in the face and cut them.
I forgot....
You also forgot to play Pick 'Em. I hope you are doing something enjoyable because you seemed to forget everything today.
