Damn, that is crazy. I bet that guy is jumping with joyIf he does sell it, he very likely could get 20K
(Whiting, Indiana) On Thursday, January 16, while opening packs of basketball cards at Cheap Seats Sports Cards, a longtime customer hit the sports card jackpot. In one of his packs, the customer found one of the rarest sports cards that can be pulled in today’s market.
In the pack was a Michael Jordan autographed jersey patch card from the “Logo Mania” insert set. The card was inserted into packs of 2002-2003 Upper Deck Series One Basketball cards that sell for $3.50 per pack. What makes this card extremely unique is that only 1 of these cards was inserted into the entire production run of the product. In hobby language, the card is numbered 1 of 1, meaning simply, one-of-a-kind. It is difficult to estimate how rare the card really is because the card manufacturers don’t routinely release production numbers.

“Without a doubt, the odds in finding this card are at best 1 in several million”, says Diane Stahura owner of Cheap Seats. To add to the collectiblity of the card, the patch includes the entire NBA red, white and blue logo from one of MJ’s Chicago Bulls jerseys. “This is an absolute gem,” says Stahura. “Most patch cards contain pieces of the jersey lettering or numbers, but never contain the entire NBA logo.”
The store has been fielding questions regarding the card’s value since it was discovered on Thursday. “Its nearly impossible to estimate the value,” says Stahura. “We have searched all of the auction sites, price guides and dealer sites on the Internet and found nothing close to compare it to. We did find asking prices for similar, but less rare cards, advertised as high as $10,000. At the right auction this card could top that figure.”
The customer, who requested his name not be disclosed, plans to keep the card for now. Having a card of this magnitude instantly moves his collection into the ranks of the elite. The card is also the top card ever pulled at Cheap Seats. Cheap Seats has dedicated a section of the store’s web site to similar ‘pack pulls’. These web pages list the most notable ‘pack pulls’ of their customers and include photos of both the customer and cards. “We expect this card will stay on top of our ‘Top Ten Pack Pulls’ list for a very long time,” says Stahura.
