bring on the Spurs why would a fan be scared???
It's not like we're wearing that Jersey, the only reason I'd rather play the Kings is the Homecourt, otherwise bring on whomever.
(yes i'm stuck in dallas)
Guys, I watched this game at a local sports Bar.
I live in upper upper north west dallas, but I have experienced many bar situations throughout Dallas in my time here, so this analysis has more than one sample to go by.
The ing fans here in Dallas are SHIVERING in their boots!!!!! I am not even exaggerating....its just like in November when Aggie fans were all "Reggie Bush, Reggie Bush!! yeah USC!!!! yeah!!!"
Guys, over half of the entire bar I watched the game at were cheering HARDCORE (yes hardcore) for the Kings. I turned to my right, said, "Uhhhhh, why are you cheering for a California team" and all I heard was "Finley is gonna suck, yeaaaaah go Kings!!!"
I turned to my left and said "I am a Spurs fan, yet I do not ever cheer for a team going against the mavs" and then I hear, "umm, but the Spurs will beat the Mavs"
Seriously, every one I asked at this bar was convinced the Spurs will OWN the mavs if they meet in the playoffs. Every ing one. I'm sorry if this is a premature thread (Dallas is one of two teams i fear in this league, i am not prejudging) but i thought this would be sub-moderately interesting to post. Mavs fans truely are plano pussies.

you can't talk reason to a room full of fools though.
I did not even try. All I said was that Texans should cheer for Texans, and that Mavs are one of two teams I fear.
heer for the team going against the mavs only if record and hc are involved for the spurs, otherwise, in the playoffs, why would you not want to play the best team? cbf, you need to find the 207 of bars in dallas and watch the game there
207? what tf is that? All I know is that mavs fans are hardcore kings fans right now.
Dallas is seriously the gayest metroplex in the world.
I live in Uptown and was at the MAT last night and I was shocked how many Spurs fans were in there. I wore my lucky Spurs polo up there thinking I would be the only one cheering for the Spurs, but there were at least 6-8 Spurs fans there.
It's amazing how most people on these threads (Mav thread included) are incapable of making a serious point in regards to the upcoming Spurs/Mavs series.
First of all, you decide that the few people you were around in the a couple of bars you've been to represent the majority of the Mav fans??? Even if it does (and I highly doubt it does) what does it matter in regards to the series? If people with any basketball intelligence would actually tell what they truely feel in regards to this series (assuming the Spurs make it...which I think they will) they'd tell you that they were cautiously optimistic (both sides). Bottom line (whether you hate or love the Mavs), it's obvious that they are much more of a threat this season than in the past. I understand the fun of trash talk but it would be nice if we could have an intelligent conversation about the matchup instead of dissing cities, etc.
Never look for basketball wisdom at a sports bar, especially a DFW area one.
I don't see the problem. It's normal to cheer for the underdog. When Detroit was playing Bucks, I was definitely cheering for the Bucks.
207 = club 205
CMMMOOOOOOONNN!
you've been in D-less too long
I guess that explains why you are there.
There's no problem with it but the Mav fans were surely pulling for the Kings cuz the Mavs would get home court in that series and they would rather not play the Spurs if possible. Duh, the Spurs are the world champs.
Myself, I want the Spurs to win but that doesn't mean I'm not worried about playing them. I just want to play the best and I think the Mavs have an excellent chance to take out San Antonio this year. I'm not really sure why it matters to the guy that started this thread if Mav fans want to avoid the Spurs or not? If I were a Spurs fan, I'd not care at all what other fans thought. You're the defending champs and have won 3 les in last 7-8 years, why would you be worrying about what Mav fans are thinking![]()
That would be like me rooting for the Lakers because they are from California![]()
Wouldn't that be the Bay Area? Anyway...
I witnessed the same thing at a sports bar in Arlington regarding people cheering for the Kings last night. Even more funny is that the Kings were the Mavs playoff nemesis as recently a couple of years ago. They had banners up in their practice facility in the offseason talking about all the layups they allowed Sacramento in their playoff series. Remember the cowbells? Bring that up and watch the excuses fly next time.
The only thing I can think of is the Spurs are to Mavs fans what the Lakers are to Spurs fans. Or better yet, the Mavs fans are like the Texas Tech football fans of the Western Conference. The rivalry has a lot more fuel up north rather than down south.
I love this town, but plenty of people here really don't know about their basketball team.
Did you all sit together for safety? Lmao.
LMAO...worst thread ever....
And anybody that would rather be in SAN ANTONIO than the DFW area has issues. There's more to DFW than the Plano area...
Not worth the time it would take to type anything else...
you cheer for a&m and tech?![]()
This is true about most towns. Geez, have you read some of the stuff that is written about hoops on this board alone? There are a lot of people on this Spurs forum that aren't that bright when it comes to hoops. They're just fans and that's ok. To be fair, it's the same way over on the Mav forum. There are more fans than people that really know hoops. I'm sure it's that way everywhere. More fans just talking trash w/o much hoop knowledge.
You're en led to your opinion. I've lived in Dallas for 6+ years (including now), San Antonio for 20, Austin for 15. Dallas ranks a VERY distant third of those three on my list of places to live. There may be "more to do" here but it's basically one of those "nice to visit, sucks to live there" issues.
Dallas has Houston beat hands down, I will admit that freely.
Austin
Dallas
San Antonio
Houston
That's the order I'd put them in. San Antonio is nice area but I couldn't handle only having one sports team.
3 words DALLAS ING SUCKS... I lived in that hole for 7+ years, and I am glad I'm gone..Dallas fans have got nothing on Spurs fans MOST of them are of the fair weathered variety.. Look closely.... I said MOST!
I remember back in the 80s when all Spurs fans chanted, "We want LA", but we really did not want LA, because they owned us in the playoffs. At least Dallas fans are being honest.

Most fans everywhere are of the fair weathered variety. Cubs & Red Sox are examples of great fans, but the Spur's fans certainly don't fit into that category. Spurs fans might be slightly less fair weathered (hard to tell since Spurs have been good for long time now) than Mav fans but that's understandable since the Spurs are all they have in San Antonio.
