ATHENS, Ohio (AP) -- An Ohio University football player was charged with hitting a police horse as officers directed students away from a brawl outside a bar.
Corey Logan, 21, pleaded not guilty Tuesday and denied intentionally hitting the horse. The animal bumped him with its head Saturday, and he flinched and accidentally struck the horse with his elbow, Logan said.
"We were forcing them up the sidewalk and this guy turned around and hit the horse," said Athens police officer Randy Gray, who was riding the horse named Chip. "He used the heel of his hand and did a heel strike on him right between the eyes." Chip was unfazed.
Gray said it was the third time that one of his horses has been hit by a student from the campus about 65 miles southeast of Columbus.
Logan, a 6-foot-3, 233-pound junior tight end from Columbus, could receive 90 days in jail and a $750 fine if convicted in Athens Municipal Court.
Another Ohio tight end, Rudy Sylvan, from Suisan City, Calif., was charged with disorderly conduct in the same incident outside the bar. He also pleaded not guilty.
A spokesman for the athletic department said no decision on disciplinary action will be made until after the players' court cases are resolved.

Candygram for Mongo!!!
Mongo only pawn in game of life.
"What in Kansas City gots is GOING ON HEREE!!!!"
Blazing Saddles, slightly amsuing.
The end of the movie was weird.
What were we talkinga bout again?![]()
Geez, TPark, if you're going to quote epic comedy, at least quote it correctly.![]()
The lines go:
"What in the wide, wide world of sports is a-goin' on here? I hired you people to try to get a little track laid, not to jump around like a bunch of Kansas City gots."
Excuse me while I whip this out.
I hated the ending of Blazing Saddles the first time I saw it. I thought it was just a lazy stupid ending.
After about the twentieth time seeing it, though, now even that's funny.
Can you imagine that film with Richard Pryor as Bart?
Yeah, I think about it. But Cleavon Little nailed it, so it's hard to imagine it could have been better.
It is funny that that Pryor ended up doing all those other movies with Gene Wilder anyway.
Man, I thought this was a thread about the REAL Mongo
...yeah...me too!
maybe a sighting of him shaving his balls on the dock at his parents house LOL..
whoa, lets not uh, get out of hand.epic comedy
It was funny, but not epic.
