i don't think that would help too much with paint defense. howard can get by finley too.
i was watching inside the NBA and magic johnson and kenny the jet smith think they should start finley because horry is to slow to keep up with dallas matching up with josh howard. like i said since my kings are out of the playoffs i am now a spurs fan until next season starts. so i would really appreciate your input. what do you guys think?
i don't think that would help too much with paint defense. howard can get by finley too.
yeah thats what i was thinking. but i was just asking because i know you guys would have a better feel with what they should do.
finley is not good defender, so hory is better I think![]()
I don't think so. Even Michael has said publicly that he believes he is more effective coming off the bench in the Spurs system. I don't think he expected to feel that way, so it must be true. And Pop obviously think so. I think we should go back to Rasho or Nazr (it's a toss-up as to which one is best or which one is worst). The current lineup is not working. Please, let's move on until we find something that does.
Gino DOES have a tendency to provide a spark off the bench........
The question is, do we have an answer for Bennette Salvitore?
IMHO, I don't think that would be all bad. Horry is better for us off the bench and Finley is a better scorer and could keep Howard better occupied on the defensive end of the court. Bringing Manu off the bench worked last year in a similar situation.
I also think Rasho should start at center...he is a better inside defender and a big problem in Game 2 was the easy layups the Mavs were getting nearly at will.
Horry is better used for 15-20 minutes/game.
Finley is an average defender but could probably keep up with Howard better than Horry. The trade off is that Finley is a very poor rebounder. I think the Spurs would be playing right into the Mav's hands by going smaller.
yeah i never thought of it like that. finley would give howard alot of trouble on the offensive end. nobody on the spurs can guard howard anyway because bowen is gonna be on dirk most of the time. so the best way to do it is to make howard use some of his energy on defense.
Does it really matter who starts???
If Spurs actually SHOW UP to play, they will win. period.
That's why they are commentating and not coaching. Finley starting at the 5? WTF?
Stevie Wonder could get by Finley.
I would switch Horry and Bowen's defensive assignment. Bowen defending Howard, and Horry defending Dirk.
i think they were talking about using him at the 4 and duncan at the 5. thats the only thing that makes sense to me.
damn it i was just about to say that.![]()

I like this idea.
I'm not a big fan of the two ex-Mavs who are now Spurs, i.e. Finley and Van Exel. At least Finely can make a shot from time to time.
yes it matters who starts. its all about matchups. iverson cant guard shaq. you mean to tell me if iverson shows up to play hes gonna be succesfull?
Same difference. What would make sense would be to start Finley at the 2 and Mohammed or Nesterovic at the 5. Bring Finley off the bench. Enjoy your interior defense again.
i think rasho would make more sense. from what i hear the spurs gave up alot of layups last night and rashos shot blocking just might do the trick. nazr is a better scorer but that aint what the spurs need at the moment.
There's a flaw in starting Nesterovic.
Parker-> Harris
Ginobili-> Terry
Bowen-> Nowitzki
Duncan-> Howard
Rasho-> Diop
I say Rasho at the 5 spot.
Finley at the 2...I would not be against Berry starting either....he is a better passer than Finley and can shoot.
Bring Manu off the bench....we need that extra spunk off the bench to counteract the initial energy the Mavs will surely bring.
Yes and Diop won't do anything vs. Rasho either....at least Diop's chances of fouling out would be less.
I think Rasho should start. He can stop the conga line to the hoop that Dallas had going, because he will defend the basket.
