Matchup problems...they can't have two bigs out there because one would have to defend FreeThrow or a smaller player out on the floor, which neither Tim or Nazr or Rasho can do...at least not consistently.
Why hasn't Pop played Nazr.
He's not terrible, sure he's crap when it comes to catching a basketball or going up for a under the rim dunk but the guy isn't too slow (not slower than any Mavs center) and can get a rebound, which is killing us in this series.
If the Spurs coul;d rebound this thing is over or very nearly over in the Spurs favor.

Dirk forces the Spurs to completely change the way they play. If they play 2 bigs (Duncan plus Naz or Rasho) then either one of the bigs has to go on Dirk.. or if not then they have to go on a small player. And if they do this then not only will Dirk still dominate.. but so will that other player too.
Well they actually CAN play 2 bigs -- during the 2 wins over Dallas in the season, Nazr/Rasho combined for ~40mpg. But Pop is just choosing not to do so to try to matchup, and that's also causing the Spurs play bad D and not rebound well.

lol well remember that one minute he gave him in game 3? one turnover and one foul for an 'and-one' opportunity... i guess that did it for nazr in this series for a while.
But I wouldn't want to play Nazr anyway. He's frickin' horrible.

We are getting killed with silly putbacks that are results of 2 or 3 Spurs wrestling for the board only to have it go to a Mav for an easy put back.
Tim guarded Q last year against Phoenix. He just let him shoot and kept a watchful eye on the paint. Pop should at least give it a shot. How did we play the Mavs in the reg season this year? Did we play small ball? Anyone remember?

This whole thing started against SAC when we got all freaked out and started shuffling the lineup like mad. Nazr and Rasho are completely disoriented as well as the rest of the lineup.
Dirk wasn't the player he is now in 2002-2003. And Drob isn't here anymore. Nazr and Rasho are far from Drob.
That was before we started putting Dirk at the top of the key. Once we did that in game 4 it detroyed your D. Dirk could easily pass around the double teams. And also Josh improved his driving ability so you couldn't hide Duncan on him anymore. Those 2 things combined ended that strategy. But as Pop said.. the entire thing is predicated on all the problems Dirk creates.
So he's no longer the player he was in the two games this season where the Spurs won and the combo of Nazr and Rasho saw big minutes?
All that in a span of a few months?
It just took a simple adjustment. Dirk had trouble on the post becuase the double coming from the perimter and/or when Duncan would come at him from the paint area Dirk had trouble passing over him. But with Dirk at the top of the key it completely negated that. And agian.. Josh mastered driving around Duncan. Stack even mentioned it after game 4 of the RS.. he said " they aren't going to be able to put Duncan on Josh anymore".. and he was right.
Dude... seriously STFU.
That's ridiculous. Pop wouldn't change his whole team because of what happened in one game during the regular season. He hasn't even given Rasho/Nazr a chance. He's spooked, and it started against Sacramento. He has no confidence with those two. He won't even put them in when the Mavs have one big center in and TD is out.
