What's with all the hate in Dallas for Michael Finley?

    Didn't THEY cut HIM?

After all the undeserved booing (for whatever reason), it was nice to see Finley have a MONSTER dunk over Novitzski.

I was glad to hear Pop call out the foolish fans in Dallas who do that crap. I'm sure he's being ripped for it, but Pop did right by Mike Finley.

Finley deserves much, much better than he's gotten from those fans.

Guys it is the play offs. You are supposed to really boo the opposition.

I am so sick of the fans here cheering for Avery.

Here he is planning our play off demise and yet every game the crowd welcomes him in the building??!?!?!

As for our Finley... I am so glad he gave Dallas something to boo about. It was what he should have done.

I didn't boo him but it's the playoffs so I don't really see anything wrong with it.

Pop certainly shouldn't be concerning himself with it.

I wondered that, too. SUCH a lack of class. I recall being at the game when Devin Brown got his ring. The Spurs fans not only cheered Devin when he was presented his ring, the house just about came down when he scored his first couple of baskets...FOR UTAH! And he was cheered every time he came into the game after that, too.

Malik Rose was also cheered when he came back to the AT&T Center for the first time after he left.

You know, Charlie Parker made a pretty astute observation on the radio a couple of days ago (I don't listen to him, but someone who does was telling me about it). He said that Dallas is such a great city, so pretty, fine architecture, attractive streets and parks, etc. It's the people that suck; they're rude and classless. And, poor Houston...it's such an armpit of a city and no one wants to go there, but the people are wonderful. If you could take the people out of Houston and put them in Dallas, you'd have the perfect city. He was right on the money, IMO.

I certainly didn't boo him Saturday night at the game.

Also, Pop nor anyone from Spurs team is getting ripped for anything for the most part in Dallas media. Duncan is getting laughed at a little for crying after every foul but at the same time he's getting praised for his awesome play. By the way, I thought the Spurs carried themselves much more like the Spurs of the past last night. They weren't whining that much at all when they got bad calls. This is a big issue in Dallas since the Mavs used to be the biggest crybabies in the league. Avery shut all that down.

yeah right now pop needs to be worried about trying to come back in the series and how hes gonna match up with the mavs. i dont think there is anything else he can do though.

It is dumb to boo, and unfortunetly the boos are easier to hear. Finley had a lot of good years as a Mav.

He did get big cheers the first two games he came back. I think the thought is to treat like any player on another team now, but it has been taken to far. It was not his decision to be cut. I am sure some are upset that of all the teams to choose to play for, he chose the "rivals". Not that Fin should be too pissed, he is getting paid 18mil by the Mavs this year and next and the next.

That was a very classy thing for you to say.

BTW, I haven't said it in a few days...Thanks Marky!

The answer to this question is simple. Fin nearly kills us with 3's and slamdunks. Nash goes ape in Phoenix. It soothes our self hate syndrom to boo. We got nothing for either of them when they left. Booing distracts our misery of those 2 simple facts.

Over Nowitzki? Dirk let him by, Dirk was 5 feet form the basket when Finley slammed it. Maybe a healthy Dirk would have kept up with Finley and defended it but Dirk was on one ankle and let him run right by him.

Lets bump this topic Wednesday night when Spurs fans boo AJ when he's introduced.

I went to the game last night and the booing really pissed me off. I think it's bogus -- I don't understand it. I do understand it's the playoffs, you boo the opposition, but they're obviously giving Fin more than the rest of the Spurs. I think it's sad. I still love Fin. He's declining, but he was our guy for the longest. It's unfortunate that people are booing him.

    The reason Finley is booed:
    1. He is playing for the Spurs, who are currently playing the Mavs in the playoffs.
    2. Pre-season he made quotes that made it seem like he was a world champ with the rest of the Spurs team.
    3. He would not take a reduced role for the Mavs that he is now taking with the Spurs. Therefore one of the main reasons for releasing him.
    4. Many believe that Fin signed with the Spurs because it was his best way of getting back at the Mavs. Playing for the Spurs who in the past have been a spur in the Mavs side.
    5. Why not boo- He is no longer a Mav- He is a Spur.

I appreciate what Fin did for the Mavs. He helped bring us out of the cellar dwelling of the 90's. He is no longer a Maverick and now he is our opponent, trying to beat us. After his career is over, then we can celebrate and more appreciate what Fin did for the Mavs. I boo for him just like I boo for Nash, Bell, Kidd, anyone who Dallas plays.

Looks drunk of his ass to me. Was Barry drunk off his ass in the 4th quarter last night? Is that why he overthrew Finley on that pass? Did Parker get drunk of his ass in OT, is that why he missed two clutch FT's?

Nice simple logic there, I don't know if it will matter to these kids though.

I wouldn't boo had I been there, and I think it's stupid, but it's being done in a seriously hateful way. He was a Mav, now he is the ultimate rival. It's not because he did anything wrong, it's just because he is not a Dallas Maverick anymore...we're not going to cheer for the opposition.

By the way, Dirk's gay? Excellent choice picking a photo with a girl hanging all over him.

That looks like a guy's arm with the watch there adrienne.

    BTW, the Finley thing.

That would be akin, to David Robinson signing with the Knicks and Spurs fans booing him when he got back.

Typical classlessness that Mavs fans continue to show.

Yes, he's got a girl grabbing at him... And he's paying attention to the guy in front of him instead...

Meh, still weak use of photo. To me the photo shows he's a goofball, not gay.
