Okay, I know his buyout has been reasoned with to about 3 million, but I was wondering, who pays for that? If it's the Spurs, wouldn't the smart thing to do be to let Nazr walk and buyout Scola and bring him over?

Next season is looking good. If the Spurs bring over Javtokas and the other guy (last name starts with an "S", can never remember the name) along with Scola and maybe repursue the JR Smith deal, we're looking at an even better team next year.

The Spurs can only pay $500K toward his buyout. He has to pay the rest (so would need to be compensated so he could afford it).

There's no way they can afford to do all of that in 1 offseason.

So by what you're saying, his buyout from himself would be 2.5 million and the Spurs, let's say they wanted to sign him for 2 million, would sign him for 4.5 million?

And timvp, I actually agree, but how high up in the draft will his rights get us?

Nick will be gone and like I said, let Nazr walk. The guy is useless.

Well he could make some arrangement with his team to pay the buyout over a period of years, or get a loan to pay the buyout over time. But yes, that's the bottomline, if it's $3.5M (as I think it was reported) then he needs to somehow pay off $3M of that himself.

Probably not going to happen. Pop likes multi position players, and Scola is only a 6'9" post scorer, and average rebounder. He cannot guard the 3 or the 5 positions, so his usefulness is limited on a deep team.

With the rebounding problems this year, iam sure pop doesnt give a damn HOW much money scola wants lol.

scola and javtokas should be on their way this offseason, and i think viktor sandklaze is playing in the summer leagues so depending on how well he does, he might make the jump as well.

Scola is not a rebounder. His one NBA level skill is probably post scoring, and we kind of have that covered already.

He was picked in the 50s, so if you can move up into the 30s or even 20s, you do it.

I 'd like to have Scola and Javtokas.
If Scola accept a 3 years/$10M deal we should sign him and trade Oberto somewhere for cap space.
    And Scola isn't a bad rebounder/defender.

Scola threads are funny because an unathletic, non defending, non rebounding power forward is exactly what the spurs need to become the stupidest team in the history of the nba.

IIRC looking at a few stats, he averages 6-7 rpg as a starter, in Europe. Think: Rasho on the boards, minus the shotblocking. If you can get a 20s-30s pick, you do it.

Nothing against Scola but SPURS need good rebounder/defender next season. I hope they unload the unused players and get one player like Chris Wilcox.

it's a different game over there you can't compare it to the NBA really especially since the FG% is alot higher on average then the NBA. also those 6-7 rebounds came at just 28 minutes per game which isn't bad.

    Scola seems slow.

After these playoffs the Spurs' front office may be avoiding slow.
