That play was probably the one that sent me over the edge, especially after two phantom offensive fouls called on TD.

Dampiers' antics were tolerable during the season, but now they are wearing thin in these close games. I'm tired of hearing about a huggy bear defense, when Dampier's chain gang defense has an Operators License.
Exhibit A: His pancake block from behind on Duncan for Stackhouse's drive and score was incredible...the likes of which is seen from Larry Allen or Flozell Adams. Not only did Damps seal Tim, but since Tim was still in the way, he doubled Tim over and shoved him entirely out of the play and out of view. Nice screen. (I hope you still have that on your DVR, for your viewing enjoyment)
Exhibit B: Spurs clinging to a 1 point lead with 29 seconds left in regulation, the Spurs get a stop on a Dirk miss. The ball bounces off Bruce Bowen to Tim Duncan, but Tim only has the use of his left arm. Unnoticed by most people, Mr. Dampier has hooked and grabbed Tim's right arm and pulled him away from the ball, causing the ball to carom like a pinball off the sure-handed Tim and into the awaiting arms of Devin Harris. Harris feeds Jason Terry for a jumper and the lead. Pop is seething because they got the stop but not the rebound...and for good reason. An L not a W.
Spurs should just D-up get a nice lead and not leave it up to the officials.
If they can't do that, then at least spread the floor unbalanced and leave Timmy alone on the block on the other side and let him go to work and foul Damps out EARLY, so that true basketball might be played.

Dampier probably gets away with a lot because he's the 2nd best center in basketball.
Solid D, excellent points. I still remember that play where Harris got the offensive rebound from Duncan because of Damp. It was outrageous.
But you're right about something else: Spurs had a 10+ point lead in the first quarter. They came out firing like you'd expect from a championship team that had just been copped out of a Game 3 win two nights earlier. Mavs scored something like 17 points on 35% shooting in the first quarter. Spurs, however, let up and let the Mavs get back into the game. If Spurs had kept it up and kept up their lead, it wouldn't have come to the point where the refs had to decide the outcome of another game. Spurs need to step on the Mavs throats tonight. It's a home game, facing elimination, they should be fired up.
Damn, just rewatched on the DVR and you're spot on. Good eyes.
