Pistons and Spurs get low ratings. I think there is a subtle change of rules this year in the NBA. The league doesn't really want a defensive battle every night in the NBA finals. The Spurs and Pistons have made their championship runs every year based on "stepping up" on defense, especially at "crunch time". This year, for some reason, at crunch time the whistles are coming fast and furious to protect the offensive player. Teams like Dallas and Phoenix benefit from this over-officiating the final few minutes. Cleveland benefits because they have a marketable superstar in LeBron (similar to Magic and Bird in the 80's). It is really not fair to a team to change the way the game is called to benefit the offense when teams like the Spurs and Pistons have won with a defensive style over the last few years. Now, all of a sudden, they can't play their game. People will say you have to adjust, but it is impossible to completely change your style of play when you have has success playing that way for years.
