We shouldn't be playing small ball tomorrow as Dallas will most likely start a bigger lineup.
Who does AJ come back with? He got 40 minutes to find from his bench.
Adrian Griffin hasn't gotten off the pine in three games.
Marquis Daniels has 15 minutes in the last two games.
Stackhouse is already over 30 minutes a game (though I'd love to see more; Stack still hasn't ed up his guaranteed one game per series, though he tried in game 3).

Whoever they put out there, Manu and Tony have to go nuts. And on defense, we should just let Dirk get his, put Bowen on Howard and totally take him away and just sag on the lane on Harris and we'll be fine.
That sounds good, but unfortunately Pop won't make any adujustments.![]()
Small ball will stay. Marquis Daniels will see a bump in minutes along with Stackhouse. If Armstrong is healthy, he'll get some minutes.
The only way the Spurs can go Big again is if AJ turns to Griffin. If that happens, Pop can put Duncan on Griffin and use a center.
I started thinking about that and wondering what AJ will do to adjust. What has given the Spurs fits at times is the number of shooters who must be accounted for and chased everywhere. AJ can't keep that up by starting Daniels or Griffin -- at least I don't think he can. If he goes with Stackhouse, I think he loses most of his bench punch, which he might not want to do, either. One option that exists is to start Van Horn, I suppose, and try to add another long shooter who can put it on the floor -- but that assumes that AJ has any trust in KVH at all and that KVH is remotely conditioned to go up and down at starters' minutes, neither of which seems likely. There's Josh Powell, too, who filled in nicely for them when they were really beset by injuries late in the season, but I'm not sure he's a viable option in this cir stance.
If he starts Van Horn, game seven is a lock.
Of course, with KVH and Powell, it's no longer small ball, either. You can put Horry and maybe Oberto on either one.
Pop can now make AJ be the one who has to repsond to matchups and go with a center.
Rasho and Nazr better step up in Game 6 if we go big, which could help us or hurt us going big, for as yall are all thinking that neither have played that much in this series...
Daniels should start. Dallas needs to run and Daniels is the most athletic 2 guard on the team.
If he's better than Stack, why hasn't AJ been giving him more PT? (Not an argument, just a question.)
He has been inconsistent and not always in to the game. He is young and Avery Johnson doesn't trust young players with the exception of Devin Harris but even than is harsh on Devin Harris and wouldn't let him start even though Harris has clearly been better than Griffin. Stackhouse will likely get overplayed if I know Avery well enough. Avery's love affair with Stackhouse makes me sick.
The "biggest" we might see is some Tim and Horry.
Yeah, and crucial playoff games really make coaches want to bury the guys they don't trust. Witness the total absence of Beno.
Still, with the new rotation, he should at least get a chance to prove he belongs on the court.
I wouldn't mind Steve Franc...er...Jerry Stackhouse getting 40+ minutes of PT in game six.

they just lost one of their better shooters, i say force their young athletic inexperienced backcourt (harris, howard, daniels, griffin etc. to shoot.) Put Rasho in, close the lane, and make em shoot
on defense we should play:
TP- Harris
Manu-Stack
Finley-Dirk
Bowen-Howard
Duncan-Lame as Center
So yes we will be playing small ball.....
Are you kidding me? Daniels has been playing like a deer in the headlights all season. If we lose I have two guys to point the fingers now: KVH and Quis![]()
switch them two, and Im with you.Manu-Stack
Finley-Dirk
Hm, but we have about 11 other guys in our team that could defend Dirk AT LEAST as fine as Finley. So this is a perfect opportunity to at least try a normal Spurs lineup.
I fully support Pop's decision to play small balls... it makes it toughter for the Mavs to hit em.

Probably because he's 20% three point shooter.
Other than Bowen or Horry, no one can.Hm, but we have about 11 other guys in our team that could defend Dirk AT LEAST as fine as Finley. So this is a perfect opportunity to at least try a normal Spurs lineup.
Pop aint changing so forget it.
What do you mean by that? To score? It's tougher for Mavs to score against small lineup? Hm, I can't even imagine that it's possible to have worse defense than this one. Maybe I'm wrong but that's how I feel.
