    - Manu, Manu, Manu. The dude took over and shows that even though he obviously doesn't have the same lift he had last year, he has the same desire and he can still dominate a game. Impressive. VERY impressive.

    - Small ball is incorperating defense. Over the past six quaters or so, the Spurs have finally figured out how to play the Mavs on D. I know Terry not being there tonight made that easier, but even in the last 2 quaters of game 5 you saw much improved defense.

From what I can tell, this hinges on playing Dirk in a much more straight forward manner with Finley or Manu as opposed to using Bruce all the time. Props to those other players for doing a decent job on a hard cover. If the Spurs can play small ball defense, we'll be in great shape for game 7.

    - It isn't personal my ass. Finley is pissed as at that city and you can see it in everything he does. Thank you, Cuban. We appreciate having an incredible player on your dime. Finley ing owns. Where are all the Mavs fans telling us he was going to suck in the playoffs? Yeah, he really sucks throwing dunks and 3s down your throat.

    - Cuban can choke on those 3s and dunks as well as on his own words. Maybe the mother er who looks like he has down syndrome will learn to keep his stupid mouth shut now. Come on down to our ugly ass Riverwalk, .

    - AJ has picked up Cuban and Nellie's worst side: the part the whines to the officials. I coudln't believe this dip s post game comments. Screw you AJ. You're full of , and you can kiss our city's collective ass.

    - Brent Barry and Nick Van Exel came up huge in spots. They didn't do much most of the game, but in isolated spots late in the game they made some clutch plays.

    - Tim Duncan rules. This is getting redundent. Just kick their ass Timmy.

    - Spurs fans that quit on their team suck ass. You all know who you are. You all are whiny spoiled es who don't deserve the success this team gives this city. Next time wait till the end of the game before you start your stupid threads. Quiters suck.

    - The only fans that are worse than those Spurs fans are Mavs fans. What now es? WHAT NOW? One more and then your tears can fill our muddy riverwalk.

Spurs in seven. I'm gonna go ahead and stick my liver on Ebay tonight, but I'll be there without a doubt. Spurs in seven.

"he'll choke in the clutch and big situations"

Im sure Mavs fan will tell us that 3 to make it 90 to 87 wasn't clutch.

Nor was his two nothing but net free throws.

I'm watching the replay right now and I'm seeing a trend that I really don't like:
occasional defensive breakdowns on the part of the Spurs.
A cutter will explode into the paint for the Mavs. One quick, timely pass into the lane and there's an instant bucket for Dallas.
    1) why are the Spurs not picking this up at all &
    2) why are the Spurs NOT trying this as well?

Props to NVE on running the offense, especially in the 2nd half. He didn't fill up the stat sheet, but he didn't need to. The Spurs didn't need to worry at all about advancing the rock and setting up the play. Money well spent.

NVE did a damn good job. And if you go big, you dont want TD on Howard. You want the other big on Howard and let them use their fouls if necessary.

NVE did good in the second half, but he still sucks. It's like a waste of minutes.

I was glad to see KENS televise the game last nite. Picturewise, I missed the HD broadcast on the big screen but ing Walton & Co. I just hate those asshats. Sacrificing picture quality to listen to Sean Elliot and Bill Land was worth it to me.

if you put C on howard then you defeat the purpose of having C

because he spends all his time outside the lane

let duncan do it so rasho/nazr block basket, duncan come from side and block ball

    Dude, TD cant guard Howard.

And do you really want Duncan 20-25 ft away from the basket trying to stop Howard from driving?

How many times would Udrih have coughed up the rock or failed to get the rock to TD or Manu in the 4th last night? He would've been instant offense...for the Mavs.

Thats why you have him sag way the off of Howard. When the ball swings to Howard the big steps out a bit but the perimeter D will need to rotate to shade Howard baseline. Howard will have open looks, but he's about as consistent as TP and that would be much better than giving Touch Foul German or Cheap Shot open looks. Or even Stack

Going forward, I'm assuming the Spurs will think about getting someone big (maybe 6'10" or so) who can play perimeter defense and inside. Tall order. They did go after Marshall last summer. He would've been a nice fit.

A reporter asked TD why he was so much more effective in the second half and Duncan simply said "Uh, they let me play."

    Classic Timmy.

Concur Manu was great. His momentum changing plays rule.

I also thought when Dallas sat Dirk and went with Diop/Dampier, we could have countered with Twin Towers.

Agree Barry and VanX did fine in spots. Barrys late hoop was big.

Improvements. Stand n Veg Offense 40% of the time is gonna bite us in the ass if Dallas makes shots. We were fortunate they didn't last night. We have the personel to have Motion O but Pop refuses to show any flexibility.

    You're right.

And he was also the one who whistled Devin Harris for elbowing Bowen right there at end when the Mavs were on a fast break.

the spurs need to play a center i said i said

just let josh howard shoot jump shots over duncan

    who the cares

even if he makes 50%, at least there is a 75% chance rasho/nazr will get rebound on miss
I second that! And I've been saying it all series. This small-ball strategy sucks. We need some rebounding bad. And we need another big man in there to intimidate Mavs who try to drive to the hoop. And I'm SICK of seeing Tim getting into foul trouble 'cause he's the only big on the floor.

I don't give a about Poopavitch fans who say "We won so that proves that small-ball wins." I think we'd be winning these games by ten or more points if we'd had a Center.
