Was just discussing the political landscape with a friend. The Demos are quick to throw the voter intimidation allegation around WRT Bush's campaign, even going so far as to play the race card (good one Johnny Vietnam).

Meanwhile, in the past month TEN Republican campaign offices have been attacked, shot at, ransacked, overrun, etc.

Anyone else tired of the Democrats throwing accusations at the Republicans while engaging in all these de able acts themselves?

Ten Democrats were convicted of these offenses? Were they "card carriers"? Oh, another conservative assumption...I see.

People are unhappy about how things are. THe GOP controls the House, Senate and Oval office. Who's going to bear the brunt of anyone's anger in this day and age? They're doing a ty job for the average poor to lower middle class Joe or Jane.

    ex,

My problem is the demos are crying, getting Rev. Jackson involved, saying stupid like "the black voters in Florida are being intimidated", as well as the constant quest to keep Nader off the ballot.

Meanwhile, Republican HQs are getting bum rushed, windows shot out, etc.

So what if people are unhappy, the Cons ution gives them the right to vote, not commit assault.

AHF if you only knew...Hypochrisy does abound....the thing that makes me lose respect for modern democrats is how ignorant they are of the history of this party. And this is nothing new. Basically the bigger the lie, the more democrats will believe it. And I should add...the bigger the conspiracy.

But history shows us that the democrats have often been on the wrong side of events...

The Democrats fought against freeing the slaves in the Civil War.

The KKK was founded by a staunch democrat.

There have been 4 presidents assasinated in office...3 Republicans, 1 Democrat. Attemps have been made on a Republican president, 4 times to 2 for Democrats.

Dwight Eisenhower, a Republican, did more to advance Civil Rights than any president in history.

In 1964, only 60% of congressional democrats voted for the 1964 civil rights amendment, compared to 80% of Republicans.

And that legislation was pushed through congress by LBJ, not Kennedy...LBJ being a southern democrat...but more importantly being the candidate of big oil(which would make him a Republican today).

Even now, Bush is much more pro hispanic than any Democrat. And he's the first president to have two African Americans serving in frontline cabinet roles.

Yet the majority of minorities in the US are Democrats...And the Republicans are viewed as a bunch of racist war mongers.

    What's wrong with this picture?

In the biggest irony of all...The majority of both Arab Americans, and Jews are Democrats...now tell me how in the the Democrats can swing that balance off? Simple, because they are great at telling people what they want to hear while making promises that are impossible to keep.

No that's not the biggest irony of all...the biggest irony of all is that they are pro choice, but some will throw an absolute and call you a murderer if they see you eating a hamburger.

In short, the democrats have had a lot of great presidents...but they have been the party on the wrong side of history most of the time...and they tend to be more guilty of telling the public what they want to hear, than actually delivering on their promises.

Modern Democrats need to read a book sometime. Modern Democratic candidates...Kerry, have absolutely no conviction behind their words, no matter how much you want to hear them...You may not like Bush, but he doesn't pretend to be something he isn't. I think it's better to elect a president that you don't like for who he really is, rather than one that you like for who he's really not.

whottt, you are so full of , it's coming out of your ears.

When Clinton was elected to his first four-year term in 1992, one of the first things he did was appoint Blacks to his Cabinet. Among the Black Cabinet appointees during his two terms in office were Ron Brown, U.S. Secretary of Commerce; Mike Espy, Secretary of Agriculture; Alexis Herman, Secretary of Labor; Hazel O'Leary, Secretary of Energy; Rodney Slater, Secretary of Transportation; Jesse Brown, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, who was succeeded by Togo West, and Dr. Jocelyn Elders, U.S. Surgeon General, who was succeeded by Dr. David Satcher.
    Jet article

Let's see, I count seven cabinet positions filled by African Americans. No matter how you slice that, during ONE of Clinton's terms there were at least 2 black cabinet members. The possiblities are:

    Term 1 - 0 Term 2 - 7
    Term 1 - 1 Term 2 - 6
    Term 1 - 2 Term 2 - 5
    Term 1 - 3 Term 2 - 4
    Term 1 - 4 Term 2 - 3
    Term 1 - 5 Term 2 - 2
    Term 1 - 6 Term 2 - 1
    Term 1 - 7 Term 2 - 0

In ALL cases, there are at least two black cabinet members serving in at least one of Clinton's terms, both of which were completed before Bush took office.

    You've been

    PUNK'D

Oh please. These campaign intimidation events were set up by the AFL-CIO. They were stunts, and poorly conceived ones at that.

    No excuses.

But they were just "tokens" like the ones in Bush's administration, right? No real influence, no real power......weren't they appointed, not elected?

Full of ? No, I think not and what indicates this is the fact that qualified my statement with the word "frontline" can you read?

By frontline I mean key cabinet members that work with the president on a nearly daily basis, not some guy he may not see for the rest of his presidency.

If I had been talking of total cabinet members, I would have said Bush has 4 African Americans in his main cabinet...I didn't say 4. I said 2 and I said it for a reason.

...because I meant key cabinet officials...Secretary of State Colin Powell, the first African American Secretary of State ever...and the right hand of the President who he sees more than anyone, Condoleza Rice National Security Advisor...Second African American to serve in that role(behind Colin Powell who was appointed by Regan as the first) and the first woman.

and I hate to tell you this about your boy Clinton but you need to check back on his history and see about the time he got sued by the NAACP...and the time he signed legislation to re-recognize the confederate flag.

You sir have been Punk'd...but not by me...by the party you swear by.

I'm still waiting for all of those black GOP legislators.

whott - fair enough, but DEFINE your terms. Frontline to you may be inconsequential to someone else.

Intimidation? “Everything we have fought for, marched for, gone to jail for — some died for — could be reversed if the wrong people are put on the Supreme Court.” Yeah, I think that qualifies as intimidation...

So you're saying it's okay to commit assault, all out of fear of the future?

Wonder what you'd be saying if someone ransacked a Kerry campaign headquarters....
