What Spurs team do you feel was the best team? 1999, 2003, or 2005?

Or do you think that there was another team that didn't get a ring that had the potential to be better than these three championship teams?

2005-Timmy, Manu, Tony, Bruce, Horry...Plus they played a 7 game series with one of the BEST teams, Pistons, in the NBA. The Spurs fought like crazy to win. I've never seen them play as good as they did in the fourth quarter of that Game 7...Horry, Manu, Bruce, and, even Tim, ALL made three pointers in that last quarter...There was that brilliant block by Bowen on Billups...there was that amazing passing/assists from Tim to Manu and to Bruce...Just amazing team work by everyone involved. And we SAW Timmy put everything on his shoulders and literally lead his team to victory...Just AMAZING basketball by a team...Let's also not forget how Horry literally saved us in Game 5 with his big shot and his dunk...Just the most UNBELIEVABLE team ever....

other championships were good but we did not have to fight so hard for them as we did for the 05 one...That baby was the hardest...And I've NEVER seen a better team than that of those five guys who put their hearts and so much effort every single day...Truly, I've never seen such a devoted effort and such intensity in any other Spurs team...These core 5 guys were magnificent...

1999 was a pretty dominant team.

    1) They lost only twice in the playoffs
    2) They set the shot-clock era NBA record for Opp. FG% .401
    3) David Robinson was still pretty spry and could outrun most guards baseline-to-baseline
    4) AJ, Elie, Elliott, Duncan, "50", Antonio Daniels, Malik Rose, Jaren Jackson, Steve Kerr, Will Perdue, Jerome Kersey

I think Pop would say that the 06 small ball team was the best all time.

1999 was a monster team, but also probably the weakest opposition.

I kinda like 2003 when we finally took down the Lakers. We still had David (though declining), but we had added Manu, Tony, and Bruce. We had Kevin Willis on the bench, who was badass. Timmy at his peak (21/20/10/8), Kerr, Ferry, Jax... yeah I've got to go with '03.

the hungriest team was the 04-05 team. After losing to LA on the buzzer shot, the team came back with a vengence the following season and rattled off wins in bunches. They had something to prove because the previous year they felt that they were the best team in the league.

This year's team wasn't hungry at all. The intensity just wasn't there.

PREDICTION: 06-07 will be back in the NBA Finals. The loss to Dallas was almost as bad as losing to the Lakers in 03-04.

Those 1982-83 and '83-84 Edgar Helicopter Jones teams were pretty special....

along with their role players, Artis Gilmore, Mike Mitc , Johnny Moore, and George Gervin.

'99 was the best. That was a tough, tough team. Inside, outside, post play, guards. I wish the Spurs had guys like Elie, Kersey and of course 50.

I never really saw the 2003 win...Were Manu, Bruce, and Tony huge parts of it?

2006--If Pop hadn't decided to use small ball...we could have seen that this was the best Spurs team assembled

I wonder sometimes where we'd be if the organization had just tweaked that 03 team with a few things -- maybe adding a center and Horry in the summer of 03. I don't know that it all works out perfectly, because there might have been some difficulties extending Manu and Tony; there would have been some static (I think) with finding enough time for everyone in the Ginobili, Bowen, Jackson wing group; and keeping Claxton around would have been somewhat difficult.

But there's no denying that the group that carried that team to a le (Robinson, Duncan, Bowen, Jackson, Parker, Claxton, Jackson, Rose) was young with the exception of David and would seemingly have gotten better having gone through that 03 playoff run.

That might not have been the best Spurs team in the context of that season, but that group could have been pretty salty for a few years.

'05. They could grind it out against Detroit or dominate on the break like vs. Phoenix. The '05 team would have won 65 and steamrolled through the playoffs if Duncan hasn't turned his ankle in Detorit. Manu that year was the best second scoring threat this team has ever had.

'99 because David was still dominant on the defensive end.

In the 2003 win...who were the core players other than Duncan, of course? Did Manu, Tony, and Bruce play a significant role in the win? I'm only asking because I really did not see the 2003 championship at all...I'm trying to buy the DVD of that championship...
