"It was among the fastest, most efficient production cars ever built. It ran on electricity, produced no emissions and catapulted American technology to the forefront of the automotive industry. The lucky few who drove it never wanted to give it up. So why did General Motors crush its fleet of EV1 electric vehicles in the Arizona desert?"...

    Talk about revisionist history.

The EV1 in its second generation could go only 75-130 miles on a charge before needing to be plugged in for eight hours.

    It was a $40,000 subcompact.

This conspiracy theory is for people who don't understand physics. One can't get enough energy density out of a battery to make the technology viable by itself in this application. That's why automakers switched over to hybrids and fuel cells for development.

How about the Stanley steamer. Now there was a car. Throw
anything in the old boiler and go like the wind. Even cow chips

Looks like a propaganda movie, or just made to make money(what can you say it is made by sony). Of course wikipeidia is easy to get information changed, so read it with some skepticism.

    Wrong.

Electric cars would have actually caused more pollution had we marketed them full force. The electricity used for these cars is made in coal factories. The amount of coal that must be burned to run a nation full of electric cars is tremendous, and so are the emissions from the factories. So basically, to run electric cars instead of gasoline based cars would have eventually caused more pollution to our planet.

Most conspiracy theories are for people who don't understand physics.

Couple that with the fact that most electricity (US and global) is had from coal power plants, and you get a lot MORE pollution from a nation of electric cars.
