Spurs: Top Ten Moments of 2005-06

    http://www.nba.com/spurs/news/top10_0506.html

    10. Finley Almost Perfect
Michael Finley got hot one Monday night in February - hitting all eight of his field goal attempts including five three-pointers. It wasn't quite perfect though, as he pointed out after the game: "I missed a free throw."

    9. Nazr Shines Against Suns
Nazr Mohammed stepped up against the Suns - leading the squad with 30 points and 16 rebounds. He grabbed 8 of the Spurs 26 offensive rebounds that night - when they averaged just 10 in the regular season.

    8. Tony Goes On A Tear
Manu Ginobili went down with an injury in Miami on January 20, but Tony Parker led the team to a big victory. Parker scored 38 points on 13/15 shooting and was 2/2 from beyond the arc.

    7. Finelys' Sacramento Shot
The Spurs had their hands full against the Kings in December. Finding themselves down with under 10 seconds left, Parker dished to Finley for a long jumper with two seconds remaining and the one-point win.

    6. Parker Goes To Houston
Tony Parker earned the first All-Star nod of his career and joined Tim Duncan in Houston for the festivities. While there, he teamed up with Steve Kerr and Kendra Wecker to take the Shooting Stars Challenge.

    5. Bruce Bowen Is Relentless
Bowen broke Avery Johnson's record of consecutive games played in December with his 297th straight game and finished the year with 354 straight starts - tops in the NBA.

    4. Brent Barry Bounces One
The Spurs were in danger of dropping the second game of their first round series to Sacramento but Brent Barry launched a three from the corner that bounced high off the rim and back through to tie the game at 109. The Spurs went on to win 128-119 in overtime.

    3. Coach Pop Gets #500
A regular season win over the Mavericks on March 2 gave Coach Popovich his 500th win. That win made Pop the fourth fastest to reach the milestone.

    2. The Series
Though it didn't end the way Spurs fans were hoping, the Dallas series was historically dramatic and gave us heroic performances from Tim Duncan. Duncan averaged 32 points and 11 rebounds in the series including his 41 point, 15 board Game Seven.

    1. The Record Year
The Spurs were the target of every team in the league as the reigning champs. That makes their franchise-best 63-19 regular season record the best moment of the year. The Spurs sealed the deal on the last game of the year - moving past the previous record of 62-20 set in 1994-95.

    On a personal note:

Rasho's Three in the Sacramento series deserves at least an honorable mention

As does our first annual Spurs Talk road trip.

What about Bruce Bowen was robbed from DPOTY?

Why would that be in the top 10?

That would be in the "Worst 10" moments, capped by losing to Dallas.

Yeah, it's sad that Nazr was so effective against what would have been our WCF opponent...

    Oh, what could have been!

Yeah, 05 had it all. I thought this years playoffs were much better though as far as game quality. The series with the Mavs was pretty damn incredible. I'll remember Game 7 forever.

Man, your Rasho love is very scary. Nothing Rasho did this year deserves any mention on a top 10 list.

Maybe he and Nazr's three's could slip in as 11a and 11b. But the Spurstalk Road Trip deserves some love. I hope the caravan gets bigger next year.

I tried type up a list for Portland but everytime I typed the words "Trailblazers" and "Top Ten" in the same sentence my computer showed an error message, closed the window, and started laughing at me.

#1. They finished with the the worst record in the league, so they get to try to rebuild with the #4 pick in the worst draft in recent momory? Wait, that's not it.

    Hmm....
