Is it just me, or does anyone else tend to lose respect for guys who litter their posts with dancing elephants and smiley faces?
I don't mean to be rigid as far as accepting gender norms, but I honestly can't take a guy seriously as a man when they put these feminine, cute little things in their posts.
When girls use them, I suppose it is a seperate issue.
On a related note, you simalarly won't see me, as a man, using cute little acronyms like "LOL" and "LMAO." Such slang is much more appropriate for my daughter, who loves to "IM" with her fellow gradeschoolers.
...not that I'm Clint Eastwood or something, but all this online ing it up strikes me as more than a little gay. I for one sign on to read and communicate via words.
you mean lol
"you mean lol" -tw05
...in a million years, i never could have foreseen that people would respond to this prompt with animations and internet acronyms.
...great stuff, San Antonio!
i guess its unananimous than... words are overrated...when you really want to make a point, a smiley face or an "lol" is the way to go.

how do newspapers, magazines, and books make do without laughing smiley faces and dancing elephants? i suspect this is why their coverage is so lacking.
I suspect the fact that you have mentioned this more than once means that said emoticons are really getting under your skin. What is it about an animated smiley that draws your ire? What is it about using emoticons in replacement of tone of voice and body language in communicating that gets your goat so much? Some kind of repressed rage or anger?
It's OK if you are angry. It's OK to vent. Tell us about your childhood. Share your feelings with the group.
You are obviously troubled by things far too easily.
Are the dancing icons threatening you in some fashion?
Are they trying to extort money from you? Or have they possibly threatened you with bodily harm? Perhaps they are about to do something even more heinous that you cannot speak of?
Whatever the case, GET OVER IT! They're just smileys, for chrissake!
...as i've said, i find them obnoxious and superfluous.
here in dallas on this glorious day in mavs history there is not so much to be upset about, you are right about that.
melmart...
i feel that you are personally consumed with trying to get the better of me.
...you constantly reply to my posts, and i appreciate that.
at the end of the day, though, i'm not sure that you have had the better end of many of these exchanges. you can quote some of them or something if you think you've got the one up on me.
you have even gone so far as stacking the deck by using your e-powers to delete my thoughts and replace them with "emoticons."
...weak...seriously...
It's easier to say:![]()
then to say.. "man, that was funny it actually made me laugh out loud!"
ever since believing that the mavs had a great chance to dethrone the spurs and making fun of "podcasting," Melman has had a serious chip on her shoulder...and I like it.
please continue to antagonize me... i enjoy our discussions tremendously
SUCK U!!! MAVS SUCK THE SPURS! DIRK IS AND SUCK THE CUBAN!![]()

i take it back...i kind of like these cool "emoticons" when they come from angry, bitter, and powerless fans of teams that have already been eliminated from the playoffs.
i dont think ive ever seen anybody use the penguin or the little thing.
Angry, bitter, and powerless kind of describes how Mav fans have been for quite a few years, don't you think? Good for you that your team has finally beaten the Spurs, whom they hadn't been able to advance against. I don't get why you're not moving on, though. Shouldn't you be happy that your team might be advancing to the NBA Finals, something they've never been able to accomplish, instead of still trying to be an asshole in a Spurs forum?
I'm sure you've told Spurs fans to move on. So why don't you?
You were a Spurs fan a couple weeks ago. bag.![]()
