San Antonio has a rich history of highschool football. Here are SA legends just off the top of my head.

    Tommy Kramer
    Cody Carlson
    Ty Detmer
    Koy Detmer
    Priest Holmes
    Keith Cash
    Kerry Cash
    Chris Pryor
    Jerrod Douglas
    Wilbur Odom
    Johnny Walker
    Alex Van Pelt
    Kenneth Lampkin

You gotta know at least a little about Texas football to know this.

    Where is Cedric Griffin from?
    Did Fanucci verbal to Miami?
At least 2 other SA boys playing w/the National Champion Horns.

I can't answer your other questions because I haven't lived in SA for a few years. The guys I listed are the players I remember watching or reading about in the paper growing up.

Then you look at Dallas's area, and the red is 3 times as big.

Eh. Dallas as the city and San Antonio as the city is just about the same. It's when you say the entire DFW metroplex is where Dallas would come out on top. However Miami, Houston, and Dallas leads the nation in the most talent in football in that order. Miami with 24, Houston with 22, and Dallas with 18. And Dallas's lake highlands have 5 nfl players and Carter was a recruiting magnet as well back in the day.

    Houston, though, is a beast.

    Roderick Babers
    Jason Webster
    Cory Redding
    Juqua Thomas
    Josh Williams
    Shaun Rogers
    Ron Edwards
    Sam Adams
    Moran Norris
    Adrian Mayes
    Tommy Hendricks
    Larry Izzo
    Robert Holcombe
    Gerome Sapp
    Devard Darling
    Donald Driver
    Randy Hymes
    Robert Ferguson
    Lee Mays
    Keenan McCardell
    Vince Young

and the entire Houston metro is no joke either. Texas is one of the big 3 when it comes to football talent and the south basically s on all regions when it comes to football talent regardless. Look at the running back position and see how much the south runs that.

Houston is a beast, metro area several times as big as SA & has the crud to prove it.
They do clean up on talent though.

This is a map of the origins of NFL talent and is much more accurate and useful, since its not a per capita thing. I could have 3 NFL players from some itt bitty town in Nevada, and on the original map its going to look like Nevada is some sort of fertile recruiting ground for elite college football players.
