Am I the only one who thinks Scola would not be drafted in the early second round if not for all the buzz around him due to spurstalk

He's an undersized no defense playing power forward. Where is the upside here?

He can score. That's enough to make a career. He's also 25 and doesn't need to learn the game.

Well didn't Chad Ford (ESPN) say that Scola would be the best player in this year's draft?

I think he would go somewhere around 10-15. Some teams wouldn't take him super early because he's already 26.

I would like to see how Scola fairs in the NBA regardless if we get him to play for the Spurs. He'd have better chances if he gets to play under a good coach and under a system that suits his talents. I hope he might follow in the footsteps of one of the top tier Euro League players we see flourishing today, not some bust like Darko or what's his face or whozits.

Put it this way: on the right team, Scola is capable of being on the All-Rookie team.

He's a mid-1st Rounder. His age puts off teams higher than that. Teams draft on potential more than current production.

I currently am living in Spain working on an internship in Seville, and have had a chance to watch most of Scola´s playoff games in the Spanish League. While he is a good player, I could see any type of an athletic 4 eating this guy up in the NBA. He´s got great hands around the basket and can score well in the post, as well as cutting to the basket, but he´s doing this against PFs that do not have the level of athleticism or size found in the NBA. He is not a good defender, especially if you´re looking for a big to play help defense while blocking some shots. His rebounding is what I would consider average for someone of his size, but his lack of leaping ability would be severly exposed in the NBA. He is more of an oppurtunistic rebounder ala Oberto but younger and with better hands in my opinion. I could see him as a good 6th man, who can play in the post against smaller defenders and hit a mid-range jumpshot. Although I don´t know his actual FT% I have yet to see him miss one which doesnt fit well on the current spurs roster Overall, he´s not a franchise big but I could see him being productive with 20 minutes or so a game, and hopefully under the watchful eye of Tim and Pop improve his defense. Hopefully I can make it out to one of his games if TAU reaches the finals which they should pretty easily (currently up 2-0 in the semifinals against Barcelona in a best of 5).

That sounds about right to me.

I could see him conceivably going higher to a team that wanted more immediate help, since he's a lot more polished than most of the kids in the draft at this point in his career. But I think it would be a reach.

Tau and Unicaja in the finals with Scola up against Garbajosa should be a good read on Scola.

Nikoloz Tskitishvili was a top five pick.

If not for issues with his contract with his Euro team, Maciej Lampe was said to be a lottery pick.

Zarko Cabarkapa was a top 20 pick.

In this draft, Luis Scola would be taken in the mid first round pick. And,he would most likely be a bust.

Maybe this is a play the Spurs can use to guard the basket.

So they're better at producing G's and SF's??

Oberto's old and Pop never gave him any minutes, all our bigs sucked so we can't single him out......but I don't know, you never know until you see it, Scola might be different than Oberto. I wouldn't be surprised if he went either way though.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

    A 15-25 Pick

A 15-25 Pick and Cash for Scola

He´s better than the Half of the PF of the League

The 2002 was the Scola´s Draft Year

Vs USA: 5/11 FG, 3/3 FT, 13 Points with 22 Years vs some players Like:
Elton Brand, Shawn Marion, Ben Wallace and Jermaine O´Neal (with the Remembered Block on Him)

He was 57Th because he was under contract through the 2007 season, because if not he was a Lotery Pick in this year
