The Spurs were good, but the Mavs are good + lucky. It takes a combination of both to win a championship. The luck just wasn't on our side this year like it was before. That's all there is too it.
This is not going to be fancy, but some things I had to get off my chest. Every time I see something about how great the Mav's are, it still urks me. If it weren't for bad calls by the Ref's we wouldn't be talking about Dallas at all, but instead about the back-to-back championship of the Spurs.
But in spite of my hopes for Avery Johnson to do well, I also hope for the old folks in the Heat's team. So many have given their best playing years to teams that could not learn how to win. I can't help but feel for them, guys like Gary Paton. I've always thougt of him as a class act, and he put in a lot of years with a team that the players just wouldn't put out the effort as he did to win.
Now these guy's finally got to a team that can get that elusive ring for them. So I can't help it, being an old guy my self (70) hopping they win the big prise. It looks like Shaq is doing better and not being the Bull he was in LA. He is now playing Basketball just like the others and in his case taking advantage of his size to win it all. Wade is already a great player, I'm sure it didn't hurt that he had an old superstar to guide him along.

Yep, it still hurts. For everyone that says we should "get over it already", I'm just not there yet. Many of us manke great emotional investments in our team. After watching every bit of 100+ Spurs games over a 7-month period, you just don't deatch overnight. Especially when your team loses the series-clinching win in the final seconds.
Maybe after the new champion is crowned, I'll feel different. As long as the Mavs are around, it only reminds me of what could have and should have been.
We'll all feel better next year when we takeback the trophy.
Yes, I can attest to that. The Game 7 loss still hurts bad, and hurts even worse now that Miami is in the Finals. This could have finally been the year we repeated, if only Manu had not committed that foul... damn. You just never know though and that's, as ESPN says "why we watch." There is no doubt in my mind that we'll be right back in the mix next year, but the West is going to be tough as nails so there's obviously no guarantees then either. GO SPURS GO!

I want the Heat to win it... on the condition that Shaq hurts himself and can't claim any of the glory.... that would solve my dilemma.
Stop whining, the Mavs are the best team in the West now.
The Mavs are great and their fan are the best, about 4 thousands people waited for the Mavs to arrived at Love Airport on Sunday 3 am, can't you believe it?
Here's a video of the latest Mavs' victim.

Jesus, you have got to stop blaming the ing refs!! The league handed you game 6 on a silver platter! In game 7 the refs let you're sorry butts back into the game in the 3rd quarter please don't try to deny it! If you wanna blame games 3 or 4 on the refs go ahead, but remember you had an overtime to get a victory in game 4, what was the excuse then?
Here's another one for you, what's your excuse losing game 2 and game 7 on your home floor? What calls didn't go your way in those games? Do you seriously feel like the Mavs didn't get slightly jobbed as well? I mean Terry get suspended for game 6 and he didn't really even make contact, Parker grabs Dirks Jersey to prevent him from tipping in the clencher in game 5, that bounce goes in and you guys were done in 5!!
If the Spurs were so much freaking better than Dallas why the couldn't they pull together a win on their home court by more than 2 points?
Shaq's arms could fall off and Walton and the like would still be clamoring for him to win the MVP because he brought a winning at ude to the locker room.
Why don't you Mavs fans go to a Heat board and let us suffer in peace. Please.
blaming the refs is getting old. we lost the series. its not the first series we've ever lost and we'll lose another one at some point again. lets just hope we don't lose one next year.
Personally, I'm sick of these Mavs fans and all their pompous bull braggadoccio. However, when your team comes out on top - that is your right. Understand this: no Spur fan on this board either asks for or wants Mavs sympathy.
To all Mavs fans, don't flatter yourself. Last time I checked, the only hardware your team has possession of is the WC championship. Therefore, I wouldn't be so quick to chastise Spurs fans until you get the REAL hardware.
Even though the loss still hurts like , I think it's good that a rivalry has been borne out out the Spurs losing.
Personally for me, I hope you punks DO NOT WIN the championship this year. That will certainly help heal my wounds. Next season can't start fast enough.
Hopefully, This will help you with the pain of losing....

Ok, now I'M getting sick of this. First of all to the Mav fans, some class would help, you know. The series could have gone either way, but ya'll won. Just be thankful you survived, congratulate your opponents on a well played series and move on. Acting like a pompous ass will NOT make you a better person, just because your team won and mine didn't (shocking, isn't it?).
And to the Spurs fans, we lost. Period. End of story. And no amount of ing, whining, and moaning will change that. The only thing we CAN do is shrug it off, learn from it and move on.
Either way, the series is over. GET OVER IT!!! All this animosity here lately is just unnessecary.
Congrats Steve Javie & Bavetta, NBA Western Conference Champions![]()
ok,may be you are right, and you did have take what you want.but the winner of one year cannot mean anything, and you haven't been the 1st of this year.
God have gave you good luck, could you please give us a tiny tiny place to heal our hurt?
This is your happy time, but what you are doing is not share it with your buddy, but send such “funny” word.that's what the mav's fans behaver?
1) Did Dirk throw up anything that hit the rim and then went OUT?
2) Does anyone think he could do that again?
This series was razor close and Dirk had virtually EVERY ball come off the rim and go in. One shot. One ing shot rimming out would have been all it took. To me, that is a monstrously positive takeaway from this series. This is NOTHING like 2001 when the Spurs were tied to the tree and "Deliveranced" by the Lakers. THAT was depressing. Chin up folks.
Very true. This series could have gone either way up until the dying seconds. It's a bitter pill to swallow because I think many (myself included) know the Spurs are the more talented team. I believe they were just hamstrung by Pop's insistence on playing small ball exclusively which played right into the Mavs' strengths. Even with that handicap they were one play away from an incredible comeback.
We don't need radical changes in the roster to get back to glory - just a better gameplan for playing Dallas. Pop's forte has never been his timely adjustment within a series imo but he does very well when given more time.
Honestly, I've been too busy or otherwise preoccupied to think about it, but yeah, it does hurt. The more time passes, the more magnified the minute details changed this series. Manu fouling Dirk, Bowen getting called for fouling Dirk, Tim missing a putback, Manu missing a layup, the Spurs not capitalizing on Fin's headbutt dunk.
Get over it. I was in your boat weeks ago.
If that doesn't work, seek therapy. It's a basketball game.
But still... I don't want the Mavs or Cuban winning their ring before Finley gets his... and I actually like Wade... his demeanor is very much like Manu's. The only problem is I utterly hate... abhor... detest the orgy-thon given to Shaq by BSPN.... "greatest Center ever" crap is rather annoying...
So, the only way this could have a 'positive' ending for me is if Shaq gets hurt in game one... but the Heat still manage to win with 'Zo at the 5.
Nothing that would cause permanent, or career threatning damage... only something to keep him from claiming the glory was his...
Even under that scenario, they would probably award him another Finals MVP....
I care less and less who wins with each passing day. After all, what does it really matter if the Spurs are not the champion?
That said, Go Heat!
evry nation know that mavs is not a best team, they are just lucky!!hahhaa!
