Just For Fun (and boredom at work):

Next year's plan is to make the Spurs even more ignored by BSPN and the national media and detested, in a lukewarm sense, by the majority of supposed basketball fans. They will be the 'base' to the acid of Cuban's 'Mavericks.'

The solution is to go as international as possible. Lookit:

    1. Bring in Robertas Javtokas with something like the LLE.

    2. Bring in Luis Scola with some part of the MLE.

    3. Get rid of Nazr Mohammed. How is not important. For purposes here, he walks.

    4. Trade of Brent Barry for J.R. Smith revisited. Approved. Arvydas Macijauskas, the Lithuanian sharpshooter, is included to make the salaries equivalent.

    5. Trade '08 first rounder to Phoenix for their second first round pick (#26). Use this to acquire Swiss swingman Thado Sefolosha. He has been pegged by Draftexpress for the #16, but truer to other sites, he falls a little further.

    6. Because Sefolosha would be the only 'true rookie' brought in -- Javtokas and Scola are experienced and mid-20s -- he's brought over. He's considered an excellent wing defender, teammate, and role-player, and hopes are to groom him to back up Bowen as soon as possible.

    The roster is:

    Tony Parker (French)
    Manu Ginobili (Argentina)
    Bruce Bowen
    Tim Duncan
    Rasho Nesterovic (Slovenia)

    ...as starters... the bench:

    Beno Udrih (Slovenia)
    Michael Finley
    Robert Horry
    Fabricio Oberto (Argentina)
    Luis Scola (Argentina)
    J.R. Smith
    Arvydas Macijauskas (Lithuania)
    Robertas Javtokas (Lithuania)
    Thado Sefolosha (Switzerland)

That gives us 14 players. (Sanders, Marks let go, or one of them kept.) Macijauskas and Sefolosha start on the reserve list.

There you go. Only five Americans! SWEET!!

/commences to get back to work

Of course. We'll call it even with 'North Americans.' Keeping Tim in the fold.

    In U.S. parlance:

    "America" = USA
    "The Americas" = Western Hemisphere

US Citizen buddy, as are all US VI'ers.

They've got representatives in congress and are governed by a US Governor just like the 50 states.

So we still keep Rasho? Why oh why? Oh the horror of having to watch him for several more years. I will keep praying for a miracle trade.

    Well, sort of.

At the national level, the U.S. Virgin Islands elects a delegate to Congress. However, the elected delegate while able to vote in committee cannot participate in floor votes.

Yeah. DC and Puerto Rico (basically all US territory/protectorates) get token representation in the House, but not the Senate, and have no floor vote.

Actually, the U.S. just needs a point guard on their national team. Carlos Arroyo.
