    From CBS sportsline:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Josh said of Wade, who is averaging 26 ppg in the postseason. “We’ve got to take that away. I played him (at Wake Forest) in college. We were 1-1. We lost at Marquette. He has 20, I had 18. We pretty much balanced each other out.’’
Put it this way: Howard isn’t exactly intimidated by the prospects of guarding Dwyane Wade.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really like Howard's chances to slow down Wade in comparison to Haslem/Posey's chance to slow down Dirk.

Could be a key matchup, yes yes?

    really...why?
i thought it was kinda cool.
didnt realize these two studs of the LBJ draft had history in college.

i guess it is less interesting when you don't have a horse in the race.

indeed. especially the quote saying they "evened eachother out" .. uh, yeah thats really gonna happen now. pistons defence is much better than dallas' and they couldnt stop him. wade is a superstar in the nba and howard is a role player... this thread is pretty goddamn lame.

no one is claiming they are equal as players, but dont underestimate the ability of Howard to gaurd Wade as well as just about any in the league, especially with his length.

i have a feeling the lamest thread of the year may end up getting bumped later in the series.

the pistons couldnt stop wade, and you say this proves that therefore Josh Howard can't pester him. Hard to justify that rationally.

you strike me as someone who hasnt watched a lot of mavs basketball of late, yes yes? Howard may be a role player to you, but i'll be a little bit surprised if he doesn't wind up in the all star game next year. he is really the second best player on our team, and has been for some time.

    ihoward is a role player...

    role player?

Mavs are something like 24-0 when he scores 20 or more........if anything id say he and Dirk are their main guys. Dirk can score alot and they still dont win all the time but when Howard gets his then they always win.......

Howard is no role player, he is an underrated star

I must have not gotten enough sleep. I seriously had a moment where I thought that meant the former President. Anyway, the 2003 draft was a really good one. Lots of good players. I'm still mad at the Spurs for trading Leandrinho. Horrible decision. As for Wade, now I remember him in college. He played for Marquette the year they made it to the final four, which was the same year Texas did. Marquette was considered the easier road to the final game (we got Syracuse), and the only reason KU was in the final. He was a pretty good player though. Too bad Marquette as a whole wasn't that great. That was definitely his team.

Not so fast my friend. This is gonna be a key matchup in the series. Will JHo shut DWade down? No, nobody can but JHo has the size and quickness needed to limit him. Watch this matchup. Mavs have too many guns for the Heat IMO.

The only person that believes in Josh Howard's hype more than pussyface is Josh Howard himself... have you listened to any of his post-game comments or chatter on the court? Posting them here in print doesn't do them any justice because it takes away from any visuals you can muster of gorillas wearing braces...

"We pretty much balanced each other out"? This is the Dwayne Wade that shot 70% on Detroit and had like 3 straight triple-doubles in the tournament for Marquette on their way to the Final Four... Josh fails to realize that D-Wade actually gets the respect from the officials that his previous assignments (Shawn Marion, Steve Nash, James Jones, Hakim Warrick, Bruce Bowen) do not, so he has to move those fragile ankles and feet of his on defense instead of just slapping all the time... I can't wait for the "JHo" injury in the first 2 games that leaves him out of the whole series and prompts the string of "no Josh Howard" excuses from Mavs fans for years to come...

"The only person that believes in Josh Howard's hype more than pussyface is Josh Howard himself... " - Ron Mexico

i disagree completely with that statement. if anything - josh is very humble when it comes to comments about himself. he's quite reserved when asked about himself. he's not a lights guy... he doesnt want the media attention... he actually "doesnt pay much attention to all that"... in reality, they did balance each other out in college - both walked away with 1 and 1, neither was over 22-25 if i recall. so far in regular season, josh didnt stop dwade from scoring - but he did contain him when he guarded him...

i dunno... i think Josh deserves the little amount of credit he is getting. he has been playin good basketball - defensively and offensively.

    haha...this was a good one.
im with you ronny: i just can't take anymore of this nonstop Josh Howard hype machine.
we are talking about a guy who has been one of the most underrated and unknown star-level players in the league all year. josh howard is no self promoter, and he certainly doesnt have any sort of hype/marketing behind him that you alluded to.

i'd say for a guy who is largely acknowledged as the 2nd best player on a team about to tip off in the NBA Finals, Howard's "hype" has been minimal.

    wow man that was awesome!
I bet you are a really cool person if you make fun of other people for not knowing a lot about computers.

just saw where they put up a poll on espn.com with the question "if you saw josh howard in a restaurant would you recognize him?" It was 51/49.

...goes to show you he's not a guy who has a big hype factor.
