During a news conference Friday, N.B.A. Commissioner David Stern said that he had no imminent plans to retire. "I'm having a ball," he said. "I think about it, I must confess, because everyone always asks me. And I reserve the right to change my mind. But right now, I'm not planning to do anything but be commissioner."

God Damn It! I want him to be out of the NBA. He's making all these useless things, such as the dress code, which was totally useless. He made like at least 7 suspensions during the playoffs. He's the reason why that Derek Fisher shot in 2004 counted. He says he's trying to improve the NBA, but he's really just making it worse. At this rate, in 2010 people are gonna choose hockey over the NBA.

Come on Pistons and Spurs. Make the Finals next year and you've sent Stern to his death bed.

No joke. 3 things I really want next season to happen is:

Pistons and Spurs to the Finals and getting one of the worst commisioners out of here.

Of course the Pistons winning the championship.

Orlando sucking and giving the Pistons 6th pick in the draft.

yes he is. the nba would probably be on the low end of professional sports like the nhl is without him. without a great commissioner like him, the game would never have grown.

As much as I hate the guy, you are right.

Anyone remember how little National T.V. coverage the NBA used to receive a while back?

Stern put the NBA in the spotlight. Now I'm not saying he hasn't ed up while doing it, but he did it.

David Stern is the Pete Rozelle of the NBA. I'm not sure why people dislike him so much. hockey, in 2010 basketball will have soccer in its sights.

Stern did do a lot of good for the NBA in his earlier years. I'll give him that, but recently he's lost his mind and has progressively made it worse. He's not the right guy for the job right now. What he did in the 80s was good at the time, but obviously that same line of thinking is no longer working. That is why someone new is needed.

The Pistons got the Magic's first round pick for next year? If I read your post right the pistons got it in the bag for the 07-08 season. Now the Spurs gotta trade for the Bobcat's pick.
