What was the deal with that JR Smith/ Barry trade???

I heard that it just didn't go down mid-season, but that it was still on the table.

Is it something that we can pretty much plan on this summer???

Poster Que Gee (or is it Cue Gee?...whoever that is) says that it's dead. Kori seems to trust this as a source.

My sources say that we were the ones who killed it at the last minute, but it's something they would like to revisit this summer.

I'd like to see that. He's a bit immature, but hasn't had any off the court legal troubles or anything of that nature, to my knowledge. When I think back to what my maturity level was at 20, it makes me shudder. He looks like a great project.

Well, it's Byron Scott who has declared him to be a problem...

He did have some probs with Byron Scott, however.

Probably about PT, which most NBA players don't think they get enough of, so I wouldn't hold it against him too much if that was the case....

So did Jack. Worked out well for the Spurs, didn't it?

Guys, I'm so tired of hearing about J.R. Smith. He might even end up sucking. Screw him. Keep Bones because he's very quotable and I plan on winning his 5K next year in my age group. Don't exile bones to New Orleans.

Well i dont remember any 1 team really pulling the plug on the deal, i remember the deal going past midnight by like 5 minutes and the league didnt allow for it to go down. J.R and Bryron Scott's problems have not been about his at ude but about his PT. I would love to have a guy like J.R Smith on our team, it would be good for both parties, Smith gets experience and the Spurs get athletic. But how much PT would he would want and how much PT Pop would give him would be 2 different things. Plus i would love to see a Spur in the dunk contest

Old lamps for new. At some point, you need to reload. The Spurs did it after 99 and again after the 2001 debacle. Bones is a great guy, but with VERY few years left in the league. If you get a chance to trade for some youth and potential, you do it.

You don't win with great quotes.

They will consider it in to the offseason. I hope they do trade Barry.

I heard no one killed it. They were working out some details and it was submitted to the league five minutes after the deadline, so it was too late.

I also heard that the Spurs may be interested in re-visiting it this summer but that the Hornets may not be.

I don't see it as a major priority because getting a backup 2 guard should come after fixing the backup point guard situation, getting an athletic forward and figuring out what to do with the bigs.

The trade did happen...it just that it got to the NBA league office 5 minutes too late, so the league voided the deal...if its still on the table, though I'm not so sure that it is, I think it would be a good move getting Smith & Macijauskas for Barry...NO can probably get a deal more to their liking this summer..if I recall correctly, the reason NO wanted Barry was that they needed a shooter for a playoff run..there will probably be some other options for them to consider during the offseason.
