Kerry's screwed himself again. What's the matter, doesn't he have any gay friends to talk about?
SOMETHING ABOUT MARY:
Andrew SullivanI keep getting emails asserting that Kerry's mentioning of Mary Cheney is somehow offensive or gratuitous or a "low blow". Huh? Mary Cheney is out of the closet and a member, with her partner, of the vice-president's family. That's a public fact. No one's privacy is being invaded by mentioning this. When Kerry cites Bush's wife or daughters, no one says it's a "low blow." The double standards are entirely a function of people's lingering prejudice against gay people. And by mentioning it, Kerry showed something important. This issue is not an abstract one. It's a concrete, human and real one. It affects many families, and Bush has decided to use this cynically as a divisive weapon in an election campaign.
He deserves to be held to account for this - and how much more effective than showing a real person whose relationship and dignity he has attacked and minimized? Does this makes Bush's base uncomfortable? Well, good. It's about time they were made uncomfortable in their acquiescence to discrimination. Does it make Bush uncomfortable? Even better. His decision to bar gay couples from having any protections for their relationships in the cons ution is not just a direct attack on the family member of the vice-president. It's an attack on all families with gay members - and on the family as an ins ution. That's a central issue in this campaign, a key indictment of Bush's record and more than relevant to any debate. For four years, this president has tried to make gay people invisible, to avoid any mention of us, to pretend we don't exist. Well, we do. Right in front of him.
Kerry's screwed himself again. What's the matter, doesn't he have any gay friends to talk about?
The moderator did not ask Kerry about Cheney's daughter, unlike in the VP debate. I can cut Edwards slack for that because the moderator made that the issue.
But Kerry's mention of her was pretty low.
Elizabeth Edwards' response was even lower.
What is the job description of "Professional sexual" ?
The leftists are showing just how immoral they really are!![]()
Good grief! She's running the VP's re-election campaign. It's not like she's hiding from the media in a position like that.
That's good. After all, what is unseemly about bringing up the personal life of an opponent's family member in a presidential debate?
I mean if it's valid to bring up aspects of the personal lives of members of a VP candidate's family which are publicly known then I think Bush should've mentioned Elizabeth Edwards' struggle with obesity when he was answering questions about health care. After all, the impact that derives from those afflicted by that condition on health care expenditures in this country is quite significant. The Lord knows John Edwards is well aware of the struggles that come with living with and loving a porker and dammit, we think he ought to be commended for that.
I may be wrong, but I believe she has spoken publicly about the challenges she has faced being an openly obese individual in American society. She's made countless public appearances with her husband and spoke at the Democrat convention. It's not like she has been hiding from the media. Good grief!

Kerry & Edwards don't give 2 s about Mary Cheney and her partner. If they had any respect at all for her and her partner they would have respected their privacy and wouldn't have singled her out and tried to make a spectacle out of her for campaign purposes.
And if you think it was anything other than that you need to get what ya'll so lovingly refer to as: "your head out of their asses."
Cheney flat out stated that he didn't agree with Bush on the issue, but he supports his boss. And if this is the #1 most important issue for you and you you don't agree with Bush's view, then don't vote for him.
Yeah, Papa's so proud and accepting of her that reporters were shocked to see her exit the front of the plane upon arrival for the VP debate. It's commonly known that she usually leaves via the back of the plane, and leaves her partner at home.Good grief! She's running the VP's re-election campaign. It's not like she's hiding from the media in a position like that.
Oh, and she also failed to make an appearance on stage at the GOP convention with the rest of the family. Of course, the Religious Reich probably would have stoned her to death on the spot.
Yep, we're nothing but a bunch of violent, racist biggots. God, do we have any redeeming qualities at all?

Are you part of the Religious Reich, SW? If you think Fred Phelps is a god-fearing man, and not an asshole then you might be...
It's commonly known that Elizabeth Edwards eats a horse a day why can't the Kerry-Edwards campaign acknowledge that?
Just curious, how does one know if they are a member of what you have deemed the "Religious Reich"?
Read before you knee-jerk post, Matthew.
Come on Marky, bring it or shut the up already.
You missed it in your hissy fit. Read above, .
Oh my, it sounds like you are having one "hissy fit" right about now.
I'm sorry, but there is something distinctly ironic about a man who wears a fanny pack referring to anyone else as a " ".
Murphy, you're beginning to piss me off. I know that you're just an baby faced boy in real life, but if you think I'm a , then bring it next GTG. I'll take off my fanny pack, and wipe the floor with your Mick ass. You've been called out and I'm waiting.
You're cute when you're angry.
Oh good, now you are making ethnic slurs. I thought only members of the "Religious Reich" did such things.
That's what I thought. All keyboard, no cajones. You're dismissed, boy.
Sorry, but I don't make a habit of making a late night rendezous with a man from a messageboard.
Also, your threats of violence are quite interesting. What Reich do you belong to?
The Reich of Mick ass kicking. You're dodging the subject, boy. I never asked for a late night rendezvous. I want everyone at the GTG to see the throw down.
Don't you think you can handle an old man wearing a fanny pack?
