Average price under new ticket package for a Bobcats ticket....

The Charlotte Bobcats are offering 500 upper-level corner seats as $199 season tickets for next season.

That price averages out to about $4.70 per ticket for 41 home games and two exhibitions. Last season, the Bobcats' cheapest ticket was $10; they will continue to offer about 2,000 $10 seats, available either individually or as part of a season-ticket package.

The Bobcats also announced they'll host a draft party June 28 at the uptown arena. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., an hour before the draft begins. The Bobcats' third overall pick should be announced at about 7:50.

I'm too lazy to look it up: what was the 'cats average attendance last year? Were they selling these crappy seats in the first place?

If not, it's just free money, assuming people who bought more expensive seats don't buy these instead. They'll make more money off of concessions, too.

Charlotte didn't seel the Hornets. The owner, George Shinn, moved the team to New Orleans thinking he would get a better deal. Basically because Shin is an asshole and because of the negative press he was getting about his messy divorce and bad business deals, Shinn want to move the team.

The league awarded Charlotte another franchise because it is a good NBA market. Yet Shinn's presence prior left a bad taste in people's mouths so it will take a while for the Bobcats to catch own.

I think the paper this morning said they only had 5,000 season ticket holders this past year.

Dallas is having 1/2 season plans for $40 a seat, and if there is a game 7 in the series all the tickets not already sold to season ticket holders will be free.

The Bobcats suck, that is true, but last year the Hornets picked up Chris Paul and won 20 more games over the season than they did the season before that. They need another good shooter and they will be good. For awhile it almost seemed like the Hornets might make the playoffs this year.

Living in North Carolina and seeing the Bobcats play live before, the seats in question are not real good seats. You can see okay I think, but they are behind the basket and up high. (At least that is the ones I think you are talking about.) They go mostly empty if I remember right. (Only been to a few games.)
