I don't think he's all that smarmy but he's definitely smug.
Smug and blunt.

I don't ever want to agree with this guy if I can help it.
He epitomizes the smarmy/disagreeable/smug/uninformed liberal who thinks they have all the answers that I want to distance from at all costs.
