Interesting
I don't know what it's worth but raps board on realgm report that we will trade Oberto for Bonner today.

i love bonner. he has heart and range. good kid
Oberto did nothing, so any trade for him would help
I'm not very familiar with Bonner's game.
6'10, 240 lbs. From a quick glance at his stats, he's primarily a jumpshooter, he's a so-so rebounder (in the same ballpark as Rasho), and can't block.
Anyone know whether he can defend and/or stay with quick forwards?
it's a trade for Oberto, ANYTHING will be an upgrade
I don't really disagree. I just want to know what to expect from we're getting back.
If he's the new Sean Marks, so be it.
OBERTO didnt even play much this season, to the casual fan it would seem that oberto sucks, but oberto was instant offensive boards off the bench he can get the tip or rip it down himself
i want to keep oberto and give him heavier minutes next year
ginobili + oberto on the floor =![]()
Going into his third season...I think he's 25 or 26. Solid player, good three point shooter, big frame.
I can't remember but didn't Bonner have some great defensive plays against Nowitzki or somebody. Anyways I just want the Spurs to get a long athletic three and a big or two thats quick on their feet.
Well, Bonner is a good outside shooter and has good length. Haven't seen him play a lot... I am not sure if it is true though...
Defensive boards >>> offensive boards. Especially when offensive boards are pretty much a player's only offensive game and he's pulling them in because his defender is off double teaming someone else.
Oberto isn't markedly better than Rasho or Bonner at defensive rebounds.
If I remember well, Dirk hit a buzzer beater on him.
I like the Bonner acquisition if it does come to pass. The guy is tall and can spread the floor, a poor man's horry have you.
He is still young, 26, and he was 12th in the league in 3pt shooting at 42% last year.
Playing him alongside Duncan will give more spacing for all the players on the floor and with the new emphasis on taking the ball to the rim and drawing contact, Bonner will be much more valuable than Oberto.
Plus, imagine the sign possibilities if you go to the game live. I predict many "I have a Bonner" signs after everyone of his three pointers for the Spurs.
Pull the trigger Pop and RC!
Yeah I remember that part but for like the 3-4 mins before hand he put the locks on Dirk,....besides who hasn't Dirk hit a buzzer beater on?

That would be a great trade. I think that Toronto organization don`t know so much about Oberto if they want to trade him for Bonner.
IF this happens, big IF, the Spurs would be able to spread the floor a bit. However, I don't think Bonner will get a lot of minutes along side Tim Duncan.
However, the deal will take place only because of the contract. He is a free agent after this year and is only owed around $2 mil this season.
Oberto is owed $2.5 this next season and has a player option the following season for another $2.5 mil. I think.
i live in toronto so i get to see tons of raptor trades and i'm telling you right now. Bonner is better offensively than nazr, rasho, and oberto combined. his D is OK but he can learn. but if someone offered Bonner for oberto i make the trade in a hearteat. Bonner also hustles like a mother er. he'd be a great energy guy to have
Certainly the Spurs would prefer to play larger, but if the situation merits a smaller lineup (mavs series), expect to see someone like Bonner to man the 4 spot with Duncan sliding to the 5. We didn't have the length or hustle to grab rebounds when we went small. Bonner would add that and we would only have to give up Oberto the bust. I see Bonner's role very similar to Danny Ferry's role back in his stint with the Spurs.
Good point. Danny Ferry came in handy against Phoenix.
If it comes to pass, it's a deal that gives the Spurs substantially more flexibility in defending long agile players with a long and mobile defender. I don't find Bonner's defense to be one of his strengths right now, but he certainly seems to be a hard worker and Pop and crew have had some success in building defensive principles into players. Bonner is younger than Oberto, he's more athletic, and he does many things that Oberto cannot. If this happens, I'm thinking its a good move; but it shouldn't be anywhere near the last move.
Ferry-like seems an absolutely appropriate way to describe Bonner.
