Let's really rethink it. Let's give the Spurs players a year off, stock the team with 14 guys from SpursTalk, split the money amongst ourselves, suck ass and get a top first round draft pick next summer.

Maybe the Spurs don't need the traditional starting center. It might be a better idea to stock up on perimeter talent and count on Duncan plus a committee of pedestrian bigs (hopefully some who can rebound) to handle the frontcourt. If the refs are going to call things tight on the perimeter than the balance of power is going to shift somewhat in the league.
Then again, the Spurs won 63 games with a traditional starting center. Their playoff exit would have been forestalled with having the right kind of forward on the bench.

That's SO 1997.
Dusty Garza of Spursreport is reporting that the front office of the spurs have a verbal contract with Verne Troyer to be our new starting center. Verne Troyer is not allowed to sign a contract untill July 12. As per spurs policy no contract details were provided.
Dusty clowns hisself.
Hey, it worked.

that person is going to be a bust, maybe a srub at best
out of NBA in 3 years.
Anyways, F the Twin Towers model. That works when you have a NBA legend starting alongside TD. Otherwise, get a collection of bigs who can do a little of everything and and spend your money elsewhere.
I'm starting to think our answer lies within Nazr Mohammed.
That's just sick.
I wouldn't be againts resiging nazr, but I won't throw he max at him. I would try to get joel przy first. In fact I would have been fine with rasho too.
edit in
I think keven cato could be cheap too. Remember he was part of the bockbuster trade for tmac.
it was yao and kato starting i think
How much you burn a day, man?
If he was around for training camp last year maybe he would've been a better choice. I think if his defense could improve he'd be fine.
cut him open and let's find out!
his defense hasn't improved a lick since he got here.
But he has missed every training camp!
Mohammed had a nice 2 month stretch once at the end of 2005, and that was it. Nazr was a failed experiment, and I don't want him back at any cost.
What I don't understand is how he can play good for that so called stretch, including part of the playoffs, then just continue to suck major asshole.
How is it possible? Did he get demotivated? Injured? Stupider? Did his white muscle rot away and leave him slower?
It happens

There's gotta be another Jeff Foster out there.
, why not a three team trade.
Peja to NO, PJ Brown to Indy, JR Smith and Jeff Foster to SA.
Then we use our MLE to sign Speedy and someone else.
I like that idea. We would be taking our chances with Houston because of Yao but it's worth the risk. There are too many threats in the west that play small.
Whoever the Spurs get, he better be able to grab a ing board. This team's rebounding cost it so many games last year, especially in the playoffs.
he wasn't playing good defense even then, he was just gobbling up so many boards it didn't matter. maybe he forgot he was a FA after this season, not last.
I'm up for the spurstalk idea, we get blown out night after night and then we draft greg oden
1987------1997------2007
just think about it
