    I don't get it.

I went to Academy Sports today and bought a new driver and I was standing in line behind this guy with his kid, who was 10 or so. They had these UT glove things with one finger up, you know '#1' for sale by the checkout and the kid was having trouble putting it on and his dad shows him how to wear it and he says, 'They're Aggie proof'.

To which I replied, 'There's no such thing.' He says, 'Well that's as close as they could get' then adds, 'His sister is dating a guy that goes to aTm, he's all right.'

I said, 'Everyone is en led to one mistake.'

So I says, 'How do you think Texas will do against OSU ?'

He says, 'They've always got a good team up there. I don't know.'

I sez " Well if they get by OSU they should be able to go undefeated again. OU is still down and aTm is in Austin where they are incapable of winning.'

He says,' They seem to be incapable of winning at all lately.'

So I'm thinking I'm talking to, you know, a 'brother' then he says....

'I think the aggies are at a disadvantage in the big XII.'

    And I says, 'How's that ?'

And I swear to fockin' god, he says...'Well they have such high academic standards it's harder for them.'

And all I could do was groan...

He added, 'They're like Northwestern in the big X.'

    More groaning....

Then he got up to the counter and I noticed on his keychain he had an aTm rubber logo thingy...

'The Northwestern of the big XII'.....

I swear to GOD, I'll never understand those people. Ever.

Who is going to stop them ? That's the question. If they get by tOSU, who's defense is decimated and had to kick what, 5 FG's against Texas, and had a major problem in the the red zone offensively against Texas, then who ? 8-4 OU ? aTm ? Baylor ? Tech ? Rice ? Colorado ? Nebraska ?

    Bwhaaaaa !!!!!!

Texas has a good of shot as any. More in fact.

...slow down. you lost your entire offense and a few key players on defense, while the personel filling those spots is either not nearly as good or unproven. there is no reason to think OU, A&M, Nebraska, or Tech could beat not t.u.

I don't understand people who have to bring up old college rivalries in the checkout line at the discount sporting goods store. And then post about it on the internets. But to each his own.

defense is not an issue, we have the potential to be even better defensively come bowl time.

Lost the entire offense? Moron. Check the roster and the do a 'check' of who played in the Rose Bowl or against tOSU last year. Off the top of my head....

    Offense:

    Justin Blalock
    Lyle Sendlein
    Kasey Studdard
    Jamaal Charles
    Henry 'the bus' Melton
    Selvin Young
    Limus Sweed
    Quan Cosby
    Jordan Shipley
    Billy Pittman

    Defense:
    Tim Crowder
    Marcus Griffin
    Michael Griffin
    Sergio Kindle
    Frank Okam
    Aaron Ross

It's all what that freshman QB can do. But, I'd be pretty confident behind the likes of blalock, studdard and sendlein tossing the rock to pittman, cosby or sweed or handing off to charles or melton.

Texas isn't 'trashed' by any stretch. The core of the RB team is there. What remains to be seen is if VY took their heart and soul with them.

Texas offense, while without VY is basically the same team. The defense is more a question. But they'll get their points.

...i was referring to young, and yes, he was your entire offense. without him not only do you lose to USC that day, you lose by 30-40 points.

VY is good but he ain't that good. People went, overnight, from VY being 'radio' to VY being the entire Texas team.

I suppose Texas will never win another game...pity. And I so liked winning...

    touche. nice response.

...however, vy has always been good and he has always bailed t.u. out of games. though i do think he played his best game, by far, against USC....and thats what it took. b/c you're not as good as the trojans. so it should be interesting next year....but to think t.u. is going to be a top 5 team next year is ludicrous, imo. i'd say they are a top 15 team and very vulnerable to the likes of OU, A&M, Nebraska, and Tech...not to mention Ohio State is going to pound you guys.

Yeah, see Texas no longer has Vince Young, but what you fail to realize is, neither does anyone else, unless the ans are suddenly going to play in Div-I.

If VY came back this year I don't think anyone, anywhere, would not say, 'No one can beat Texas, no one.'

    True ?

And it would be, barring an injury or fluke, true. Texas isn't as strong but neither are the powerhouses they beat last year. And please, OU. Why ? What is it about OU that people think this team has somehow gone from 8-4 to 'winning it all'.

    ?

I ask again, just who is going to absolutely without a doubt, beat Texas ?

You can't name one team. No one can. I think when tOSU comes into DKR there's not going to be a buncho' people betting the farm on OSU....or Texas. But I'd take the home team given that game.

And I'd take Texas -vs- OU given last years rosters and performances even without VY. Charles is every bit as good a running back as AD. This year he'll prove it. And the remainder of the squad ? Texas..proven. OU...proven to fail. Sorry man, Texas is still the team to beat. That won't change till they ARE beaten. They get through week 2 and momentum, once again, is on their side.

They lose week 2 and they could lose 2 more, just like tOSU did last year.

Pivitol game. Make or break. Period. Me, you and the entire CFB world will be watching that game. It will determine the fate of many teams.

...first of all, t.u. could be beaten even if vy came back...you highly overrate your team. and i don't think OU is going to win it all....far from it. but they along with tech, nebraska, and A&M are good enough to beat you. we are talking about one game here. t.u. fans should know this better than anyone....USC was a better team than t.u. and would have won that game 75 times out of 100, imo. and while you may not agree with that, or anyone else in texas for that matter, that is the national consensus (that USC is/was better)....but they weren't that day, and that is all that mattered. USC proved the best teams can still be beaten, anytime, anywhere...

UT has a ~30% graduation rate for football players. Everyone is Northwestern compared to them.

I consider myself to be a 'realistic' UT fan, and I'm expecting either 10-2 or at best 11-1 this season. We have some big time dangerous games starting with ohio state, against ou in Dallas, at nebraska, at tech and home against a&m to finish the season. My dream scenario this season is to win a close game against ohio state, beat ou in Dallas, and then maybe we lose at Nebraska or at Tech, but we win the tiebraker with ou to represent the Big XII South in the championship game. If our QB is/should be playing well by the end of the season we have the possibility of making a BCS game. That's the scenario that keeps me up at night stroking myself.

This is a bunch of crap, I was at the Rose Bowl and all of ESPN was on USC jock saying how good they were and that the D would stop vince blah blah blah. Well the Horns beat a team that was overrated and lucky the whole year. How quickly after the RB that all of ESPN jumps on the bandwagon, I thought the city of LA was going to kill themselves. But your comment about USC being better sounds like that little Leinhart after he was BEAT by Texas. I mean USC almost lost to Fresno St, and needed a push to beat touchdown Jesus.

I think the Defense of Texas will help pull out some games this year, a win over OSU can help the team a lot. But I think games aganist the Huskers and the raiders can be tough.

At least unlike the aggies no worries about Baylor.

Okay SPARKY...where is this 'high academic standard' of aTm if it DID in fact exist, which it does not, but how would that prevent you from having a winning football team ?

    Hmmmmm, Sparky ?

Is that direct enough ? Seeing that you can't follow what is INFURRPLY'D...
( did I get the aggie spellin' right ?)

    Thx in advance
