You have to bathe him in tomato juice.

So far I'm just letting her walk around in a half-full tub filled with all sorts of girly smelling shampoos and stuff ... I hope that works.

    It won't work.

You have to bathe her in tomato juice. I was being serious.

Mix 1 gallon of water with 1/4 c. baking soda, 1 pint of peroxide, and 3 drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid. Scrub into fur, leave on 5 to 7 minutes, rinse and let air dry. It might lighten her fur color though.

I shoulda seen this coming ... I saw the damn skunk last night when I was taking out the trash.

And she's probably gonna stay inside tonight ... the place already smells like ass, so her being inside won't affect it too much.

I now need to know how to get rid of the skunk. When I saw it, it looked like a baby, so I'm guessing that the momma skunk isn't too far away.... will animal control come out and get 'em? I don't know how happy the people living around me will feel if I start shooting up my backyard with a shotgun ... so that is out of the question... unfortunately.

Have you thought about getting a black cat and putting a white stripe on the back?

Shampoo and Water just makes it worse unless you do it right away. Your best bet is the Hydrogen Peroxide-Baking Soda-Dish Soap mix. Make sure you use fresh Hydrogen Peroxide, mix the ingredients together and then use it right away while it is fizzing, make sure to keep it out of the dogs eyes, and don't try putting the mixture into a closed container... it will explode. Good luck.

I'll have to see if I can find a picture of my dog after he got sprayed, we eventually had to give him a tomato juice bath to get rid of the smell, he looked like a Freddy Kruger victim.

    .

The first time I saw a skunk in my yard the very next day I went and stocked up on tomato juice.

Sure enough, within a week my dog got hosed. Unfortuately, he was in the house and rubbing the off of his face all over the carpet before we caught wind of it..so that was a terrible funk that hung around for a few days.

I really don't think there is anything that gets the stink out 100%, but the tomato juice did a better job than anything else will.

Oh, and the dog foaming at the mouth afterwards is normal.
