Haley Joel Osment was hospitalized early yesterday after he apparently lost control of his car while heading to his Los Angeles area home, police said.

Osment, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as a boy who could see dead people in The Sixth Sense, was driving a 1995 Saturn about 1 a.m. when the car collided with a brick pillar and flipped. The 18-year-old actor was awake and talking following the crash. He was alone in the car.

Daniel Baldwin was hospitalized after the Ford Thunderbird he was driving at more than 129 kilometres per hour crashed into two cars parked on a Los Angeles street, police said. Baldwin, who was taken to hospital after the crash Wednesday, complained of back and neck pain but did not appear to be seriously hurt, said police. Authorities said a female passenger, whose name was not released, was not hurt. Baldwin, 45, was driving with a suspended licence. The actor was detained at the hospital while police investigated the crash.
