ill try to explain using bad punctuation the teams talent and chance of winning the NC
I wont drop science or anything, ive just been thinking about this a lot recently after reading the preview mags and listening to sportstalk radio all day at work
1. TEXAS
yeah naturally right?
think about it, any other team ranked number 1, sounds even more rediculous, so it might as well be the champs, with the best offensive line and defense in the country
the whole season shall be played on week 2
ohio st has more to work on than the horns do, by week 2, texas should be a more complete team
what the do yall think chizik has been doing all offseason?, talking to gary darnell?
anyway horns win this game, then they have the "confidence" ( i hate this word), to bomar the sooners
2. LSU
i have to give it to them until they lose a game
their Dline is outlandish, they have a qb with experience, talent at the skills
but it wont matter because they have little chance of winning the NC out of the sec
still if any team from the sec is playing in the fiesta bowl, its lsu
3. AUBURN
even though i still think theyre overrated, so are a bunch of other ty teams
the schedule is too rough though, even though ill rank them the third best team in the nation
4. OHIO ST
troy smith and ted ginn will win them some games, they lost a load of talent to the nfl
my big 10 champs
after they lose in week 2, theyll actually be rewarded for losing to texas like they were last year and be pretty high in the bcs all season
5. FLORIDA
the sec is loaded at the top, and urban meyers has his own thread and video game
leak is great but tebow will be even better next year
maybe a great team, but good look with the bcs and the losses theyll have at the end of the season
4. MICHIGAN
even though hart and henne had a daniel gibson like so. years, michigan should bounce back and contend for the NC, they have talent everywhere
7. WEST VIRGINIA
pat white is overrated just because he played as a fr., their tailback is the star
and they ing rolled Georgia up and smoked them last year
sadly because of how the big east was chode bloadded a few years ago, WV has a very good chance of playing in the fiesta bowl, and being ranked a load higher than number 7 (which is already stretching it)
8. OKLAHOMA
they arent that ty, AD(AP) will be one y sob and rightfully so
their oline and secondary are not OU like
stoopes will not have a chance to lose the NC this year though
9. SOUTHERN CAL
with the talent theyve stockpiled, it may take a few years to contend
theyve got two incredible wideouts and offensive line
good thing for them the pac10 is horrible

10. NOTRE DAME
good passing game, good coach, good tv network
incredibly overrated though
if anyone thought espn stroked off Lienart last year, just wait until brady quinn doesnt suffer a season ending injury before week 5

LSU #2? Come on dude. If you don't keep up with the SEC let me tell ya what us fans of it already know. They're breathing on the last legs of Nick Saban's old recruits. This team is falling right on their face and won't be the LSU we have known in years past. To put them at #2 and me post this at SECFanatics would have me given +100 for the laugh of the day.
He did say they wont get out of the SEC....if i read it correctly, mookie is estimating the rankings, not exactly saying that he thinks LSU is "the second best team in the nation"

What the *stuuuffff* do yall think our Defensive Coordinator has been doing this entire offseason? Noone can legitimately argue that our defense got worse over this offseason. In fact, Texas D has been showing nothing but improvements for hte last decade. Gene's schemes may have licked balls in the NFL, but they are kicking ass in the NCAA and going to win us many a games while our young chinstrap quarterback gets his bearings.
We have the best Linebacker core in the nation, deep as . Only real weakness (and it is a big one) is our young QB. But the D will hold down the fort until he has a Bomar-esque second half of the season.
my thoughts:
1.i'd put USC in the top 5 easy. they have so much talent its ridiculous
2.though notre dame will be better than last year, they will probably have 3 losses
3. t.u. is not even close to a top 10 team, probably about 14-15
4. lsu, auburn, michigan, and oklahoma are all ranked too high
5. t.u. eats

thats what people don't understand:
1. Pete C. is the best coach in CFB
2. USC's recruits are always the best by star ratings, the quality of recruits they get blows t.u. away as well as other schools
3. USC has much experience and game breakers still on the team
I'd put UT around 6-8, USC out of the Top 10.

3. go and look at the recruiting classes at either rivals or scout
4. btw, anybody is capable of losing A GAME, that has no bearing on overall class strength....especially one in which USC handed to t.u.
I think it's funny how ever since Texas beat USC some of you act like USC ain't anymore.
When the bottom line is if you guys played this season instead of OSU you would get beat. Vince carried UT last year and that's the only reason you won the NT.
Try to be realistic here.
Sure the line blocked just enough, but scoring 38 on your defense isn't anything to brag about. Young was the only reason UT was even in the game. And that's all that matters in the end, you guys are the Champs none the less.
But play that game now, and you stand just as much of a chance as Arkansas does in their season opener against them. Whom ESPN and Phil Steele have already claimed anything less than 9-3 for Arkansas is a huge failure.
USC is top 5, Texas is top 10. Texas fans of course considering the arrogance don't see that one man carried that team out of a few rough games and that one man is not there anymore.
In other words the 07' Horns look better than this 06' Horns team coming up, once some of your nice recruits get a year under their belt.
And to Dio- Don't compare just last year to make a point. (like when you say 06' over and over.) Because it's all history. You might as well mention who won the BCS the two years before it if you wanna talk about history.
Goto any other forums on the net besides some Texas one and they'll agree that USC recruits are better, and this years team looks better on paper. It's just the Texas fans. But after winning a NT after years and years I guess the arrogance has somewhat of a point now.
no doubt. t.u. fans (my friends that went to the school) always ask me what is life going to be like without Bush, Leinart, and White....and i am like you just lost VY!!! that was half your team and the qb coming in now has never taken a snap. while on the other hand, USC will have a great defense and an offense that should still be tremendous.

Rahahah you obviously don't keep up with SEC sports but you're on the west coast so who can blame ya? Arkansas isn't going to shock anybody if we beat USC. We have a top 5 or 10 run game, offensive line in the nation and SI.com's 7th best QB tandem. And they are only a Soph and a Freshman. So it's all good.
