400,000 Frozen Embryos...but only 128 'snowflakes' have been adopted. Will the stem-cell veto hurt the GOP?
    by Eleanor Clift

    ...

There are 400,000 embryos languishing in storage tanks at fertility clinics; only a very small number are candidates for adoption. “Even with federal funding available to encourage adoption, the number is 128, which makes it conclusive that these 400,000 embryos will either be used for scientific research or thrown away,” said Republican Sen. Arlen Specter, who supports expanded research. The legislation, which passed by wide margins in the Republican-controlled House and Senate but fell short of a vetoproof two-thirds majority, would only use embryos that would otherwise be discarded, and then only with the written consent of the couple that created them.

Eh gad, most of these embryos will be destroyed. Too bad there isn't this much concern by the reich-wing for the non-white, non-embryo children already sitting in orphanages and foster care.

And conversely, many on the left-behind wing are whining about frozen embryos while at same time nodding their heads in approval at the 1.2 million lives slaughtered each year in the U.S.via abortion. Go figure.

dubya says embryo research is murder if the govt funds the research.

but if private industry funds the research, it's not murder because the govt isn't bringing murder charges against the private researchers.

Plus, the vast majority of frozen embryos will be destroyed, that's uncharge murder, also.

And so the nutty social conservatives hog-tie the Repugs into inconsistent, dishonest, illogical positions.

This whole thing is unbelievably stupid. Somehow using embryos that were going to be destroyed anyway for stem cell research instead is murder? It's just a group of cells, not a human life...
