Source: Bush agrees to deal with Saints

    Jay Glazer / FOXSports.com

Reggie Bush could join his first pro team as early as Sunday.

Team sources told FOXSports.com that Bush and the New Orleans Saints agreed in principle on a 6-year deal that is sandwiched between Vince Young's contract at No. 3 and Mario Williams' at No. 1.

"This deal should be done as early as tomorrow," the source said.

When asked if there was anything that could hold up the deal, one team source said, "There shouldn't be anything. But you never know. All that's really left is for some language to be cleaned up in the deal."

The ans' Young received $25.74 million in guarantees, while the No. 1 pick Williams of the Houston Texans was awarded $26.5 million in bonuses.

Bush was the second player chosen in the NFL draft and has missed the first two days of training camp practices.

The wide receiver out of Southern California won the Heisman Trophy after a sensational season in which the Trojans repeated as Pac-10 champions and advanced to the national le game.

To say the Saints are excited is an understatement. The night before the draft coach Sean Payton said he was working on a new offensive playbook to include Bush in a backfield with Deuce McAllister.

I wonder how many will draft Reggie in the 2nd or 3rd rounds for Fantasy FB?

...i thought Bush would sign pretty soon, he's a good team guy and i am sure he does not want to miss much of camp. plus, watching troubles with past players helps too.

as for where i would draft Bush in FFB? probably in the 7th-8th round as a third RB in a two back league. 2nd and 3rd round is extremely high, imo.

I have been in 2 live drafts so far and in both, he went in the 2nd-3rd round.

No way Bush drops to the 7 or 8 rounds. If he drops past round 3 you got a good deal on him.

Have you seen the ESPN Fantasy FB commercial with Reggie? He's at a draft and his buddy is thinking about taking LJ #1... Reggie says "c'mon man... I won a Heisman and can't even get drafted #1 at my own fantasy draft?" His buddy takes Reggie, who immediately speaks up with the number #2 pick and takes LJ... turns to his buddy and says something to the effect of "Sucker... LJ is rated #1 dude."

He never deserved to holdout. Although he was a major star in the NCAAF he has never proved himself in the NFL. It is a big change in the NFL from college and until he makes a successful leap he shouldn't holdout.

Wrong. With non-guaranteed contracts, a RB, rookie or otherwise, MUST hold out for as much guaranteed money as he possibly can. Plenty of examples. Ricky Williams being one. He signed that horrible contract and wasted his prime years being overused for no better than the average RB pricetag.

A back is always one snap away from having his career ended. They can't as realistically count on that next contract when signing their first. , he signed for six years and the average NFL lifespan of a back is just under five years.

If you draft in the top five, you'd best have an open checkbook policy. If you're going to be cheap, then trade the pick. A team has to know if it can deal with the player and the player's demands before they draft him.

EDIT: as for range in fantasy. I got him down as a fourth-rounder. Remember, McAllister is coming back. He's going to get the 15-yards on in workload so I'm not sure how many TD's Bush should be figured upon.

Again, He's going to get Warrick Dunn type of yards with only slightly better than Dunn type of touchdowns.

I've got him at around 1000 yards rushing (+/- 200 yards), 400 receiving (+/- 100 yards) and 10 totals touchdowns (+/- 2 touchdowns). And to some, even these moderate numbers are too high.

This is only my second fantasy football league, but I know that those numbers aren't 2nd or 3rd-round ready.
