Do Great White Sharks hunt in packs? Until recently great whites were thought to be solitary creatures with no social life. Great whites have been noted to travel in loose but stable groups of two to six individuals, in which social rank seems to be well established. They will form a dominance hierachy especially if the come together over a whale carcass or other rich feeding opportunity. Hunting together, though, is still undo ented. We know that in certain areas such as at the Farallones from September to November Great Whites congregate at the islands apparently to feed upon the local seals but whether they work together we don't know. A good book to read is the field guide to the Great White Shark by R. Aidan Martin.
