The at ude that all people in southern Lebanon are terrorists is not acceptable. Haim Ramon is evil.
Or at least he is giving the appearance to be.

JERUSALEM — Everyone remaining in south Lebanon will be regarded as a terrorist, Israel's justice minister said yesterday as the military prepared to employ "huge firepower" from the air in its campaign to crush Hezbollah.
The warning came as the Israeli government decided against expanding ground operations following the death of nine soldiers in fighting on Wednesday.
"What we should do in southern Lebanon is employ huge firepower before a ground force goes in," the justice minister, Haim Ramon, said at a specially convened security Cabinet meeting headed by Prime Minister Olmert.
"Everyone in southern Lebanon is a terrorist and is connected to Hezbollah. Our great advantage vis-a-vis Hezbollah is our firepower, not in face-to-face combat," Mr. Ramon said.
Mr. Olmert said, "The army will continue toward the established goals."
Mr. Ramon's comments suggested that civilian casualties in Lebanon, which already stand at about 600 after 16 days of bombardment, could rise yet higher.
The government's unrelenting line has the backing of the Israeli press, which is demanding a harsh response to an ambush, in the Hezbollah stronghold of Bint Jbeil, in which eight soldiers died. The country's biggest selling paper, Yediot Achronot, said the Israeli army has raised the threshold of response to Katyusha rockets: "In other words: A village from which rockets are fired at Israel will simply be destroyed by fire. This decision should have been made and executed after the first Katyusha. But better late than never."
Three divisions of reserve soldiers, up to 15,000 men, are to be called up.
Almost 50 Hezbollah missiles landed in northern Israel yesterday, wounding four and bringing the total number of rockets fired into the country to about 1,400.
[Israel's government authorized the army to call up 30,000 reserve soldiers in case the fighting intensifies, the Associated Press reported.]

I understand the need for a hard-line on terrorism but that remark isn't plausible (or possible to substantiate even if it were) and therefore doesn't serve the best interests of the Israelis. It was counterproductive in that it served as ammunition for the enemy in the propaganda war.
.
I think the main thing he's trying with that comment is for everyone who doesn't want to get killed to get the out of South Lebanon, leaving the bad guys behind for the IDF.
Based on current news reports that would be a correct interpretation of his statements.
To bad they continually bomb all the roads and the cars traveling on them... It makes it a little difficult to get out...........
A cease-fire would be nice to actually let the poor MF's trapped in there to get out..........
Yet the news media travels in and out of the areas using those same roads that people claim are blocked.
Because what Lebanese family wouldnt' have the resources, experience, direct communication with the Isreali armed forces, and information that CNN has.
Um, why wouldn't they be able to walk on roads that CNN travels with vehicles again?
The roof!
The roof!
The roof is on fire!
We dont no water,
Let the motherucker burn!
Burn mother er!
Buuuuuuuuuuuuurn!

Except for one little detail: it is increasingly clear that the Qana “massacre” was a stage-managed Hizballah production, designed precisely to enflame international sentiment against Israel and compel the Israelis to accept a ceasefire that would enable the jihad terrorist group to gain some time to recover from the Israeli attacks. Some of the principal evidence for this:
-The Israeli bombardment took place about midnight, but the house where the civilians were gathered reportedly did not collapse until 8AM. Said Brigadier General Amir Eshel of the Israeli Air Force, “It is difficult for me to believe that they waited eight hours to evacuate it.” Indeed, it strains credulity that not only did these Lebanese civilians remain in a house that had been bombed for eight hours, but peacefully went to sleep in it after the bombing – since the victims were all apparently sleeping, despite continuing Israeli air bombardment in the area, when the building collapsed. Eshel suggested that “it could be that inside the building, things that could eventually cause an explosion were being housed, things that we could not blow up in the attack, and maybe remained there” – in other words, Hizballah bombs and/or weapons.
-Photos of the rescue operation, which were transmitted all over the world and appeared on the front page of the New York Times and other major newspapers, are extremely su ious. The blog EU Referendum has done important work scrutinizing the photos, finding numerous anomalies. Most notably, the dating of the various photos suggests that the same bodies were paraded before reporters on different occasions, each time as if they had just been pulled from the rubble. In a rebuttal to this charge, AP’s David Bauder rather lamely asserts: “web sites can use such stamps to show when pictures are posted, not taken.” Responds Richard North of EU Referendum: “Note, however, the use of the word ‘can’. He does not say that the ‘date stamps’ are wrong.” EU Referendum has also uncovered strange anomalies in the photos themselves: some workers are wearing different gear in different photos, yet clearly carrying the same corpse. Richard North comments about one of these workers: “It stretches belief to breaking point to argue that, on his way to the ambulance, he took off his helmet, his fluorescent waistcoat and his flack jacket just in order to pose for the cameras putting the body in the wagon – especially as we have the body being placed on the ‘guerney’ – which means the scenes are totally inconsistent.”
-The very existence of these pictures raises more questions. As Israel Insider puts it: “While Hezbollah and its apologists have been claiming that civilians could not freely flee the scene due to Israeli destruction of bridges and roads, the journalists and rescue teams from nearby Tyre had no problem getting there.”
-The Christian Lebanese website LIBANOSCOPIE has charged that Hizballah staged the entire incident in order to stimulate calls for a ceasefire, thereby staving off its destruction by Israel and Lebanese plans to rid themselves of this terrorist plague: “We have it from a credible source that Hizbullah, alarmed by Siniora’s plan, has concocted an incident that would help thwart the negotiations. Knowing full well that Israel will not hesitate to bombard civilian targets, Hizbullah gunmen placed a rocket launcher on the roof in Qana and brought disabled children inside, in a bid to provoke a response by the Israeli Air Force. In this way, they were planning to take advantage of the death of innocents and curtail the negotiation initiative.”
-According to the German scholar Matthias Küntzel, “the Berlin daily the Tagesspiegel published a letter-to-the-editor from Dr. Mounir Herzallah, a Shiite from the South of Lebanon. Dr. Herzallah reports on how Hezbollah-terrorists came to his town, dug a munitions depot and then built a school and a residence directly over it. He writes: ‘Laughing, a local sheikh explained to me that the Jews lose either way: either because the rockets are fired at them or because, if they attack munitions depot, they are condemned by world public opinion on account of the dead civilians.’ Hezbollah, he says, uses the civilian population ‘as a human shield and then when they are dead as propaganda.’”
Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam, declared that “War is deceit.” Specifically, he taught that lying was permissible in battle.[1] While the doctrines of religious deception (taqiyya and kitman) are most often identified with Shi’ite Islam, and ostensibly rejected by Sunnis, because they were sanctioned by the Prophet, they can still be found in traditions that Sunni Muslims consider reliable, and are practiced among Salafis. Jihadists today have spoken of the usefulness of deceptive practices.
Americans and Westerners are not used to dealing with carefully orchestrated and large-scale deception of this kind. It is time that it be recognized as a weapon of warfare, and an extremely potent one at that. Qana has already largely accomplished what it was supposed to. It will now take its place beside the Danish cartoons, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo and all the rest as a useful focal point for Muslim outrage and a magnet for jihad recruitment. The dhimmi Leftist Western press is happy, for it can again show America and Israel as guilty in the world’s site. The mujahedin are happy, for jihad and Sharia will advance still more. The only people who couldn’t possibly be happy with this are the Israelis and others on the front lines of the jihad worldwide.
But who cares about them?

Sounds exactly like the people who think the US orchestrated 9/11.
Says the person who doesn't have to walk his family through a warzone.
What the ?
You mean to tell us that familiarity with one's area wouldn't be a significant advantage to fleeing safely than relying on mechanical devices and other intelligence?
You and i don't really know the situation down there, so stop the pontificating.
Except Hezbollah and Hamas are notoroius for staging photo ops of dead civilians, and it doesn't take a kook with too much time on his hands to figure that out.
Have you seen the roads there littered with car???? How would you feel about taking your car (assuming you even have one anymore) down that road with your wife and kids??? The have killed over 700 innocent ppl already.......
It is easy to say what "they should do" from the comofrt of your easy chair... They are ppl just like us......
Why don't these Lebanese just hop into their Hummers and get the out of dodge? So simple!
....who just so happen to hate jews and want to massacre them unprovoked allwhile housing Hezbollah.
So how many of those women and children that were killed believed that???
But for you just assuming that that they did is enough to justify all of their deaths..........
Sleep well............
Well, because they are obviously Liberals and expect the government to do it for them.

Zing!
Damn Dan, you've been in rare form of late. Nice.
I hardly think the massacre of the kids in Qana and the attack on the UN building were staged. You Neocon apologist will say anything to justify further bloodshed, well guess what? It won't work because like the U.S. in Iraq, Israel underestimated Hezbollah's strength. This is why 9 Israeli soldiers lost their lives in the first attempted ground operation into Lebanon, and why relunctantly, Israel now has to commit ground troops where hezbollah receives a tactical advantage.
Thanks Manny. That's what having no calculus homework and real sleep will do for you.

Correction: Walk OUT OF A warzone.
No, and neither have you.
First of all, I take issue with the word "innocent" and I don't believe that many of those people were even killed by Israel. It's long been Hezbollah's MO to count on sympathy for civilian casualties, and therefore to make sure they are maximized. There are reports that they were parading the same dead children past the cameras multiple times.
Yes, and you say that they should just stay where Hezbollah wants them in spite of Israel dropping thousands of papers telling them to leave by a certain time.
Are you somehow implying that the Israelis are not people "just like us"?
