I just read that it was nearing hurricane strength already..
Tropical Storm Chris is out there.
Models don't think it is going to amount to much, but if it makes it into the Gulf early next week, it might end up over a hot spot in the gulf. If that happens someplace in the Western Gulf Coast could be in for a ride.
It is still a long way out, but yeah.
I just read that it was nearing hurricane strength already..
Why do I picture Manny salivating in front of a radar map?
Call me paranoid, maybe it won't be Chris, but I'm stocking up on water batteries canned gods etc. I think some bad s gonna happen in the next year or two.
Wake me when it gets to the southeastern GoM...
When I first heard the name of this hurricane I had a bad feeling.
Here is some of the latest news.
BREAKING NEWS FROM THE TROPICS: Tropical Strom Chris showed significant strengthening on Tuesday. The latest forecast moves it more westward for the next five days, bringing it over Southern Florida on Sunday and into the Gulf of Mexico on Monday. There is reason to believe that the storm will continue toward the Texas Coast, arriving sometime next week (August 9th or 10th). This definitely bears watching!
Why do I get the feeling this storm will hit the Houston area about three days after we close on our new home?
If it does come your way, I will pray for you all. The key word is "if." The weird thing is that we were in New Orleans two months before Katrina hit. This past weekend we were in Port Aransas/Padre Island area and now there is a chance it could hit the TX coast. I am not saying it is going to happen, just weird that there is a chance it may.
No of course. Part of living along the coast and in Houston is acknowledging that hurricanes and tropical storms can come and cause major damage, and that a concrete city built on swampland is prone to flooding.
Just like you know that tornadoes are a possibility if you live in Ohio. It's what insurance is for.
I told Jess last night this thing is coming for Texas. It is way too far out to know for sure, but if I had to put money on it I'd say Texas is giong to get hit. The way the upper air patterns have been and the way they are setting up just makes for this thing to make a straight shot west right at Texas.
And that was August 2, 2006, 1355....
(Just in case you try and edit this later...![]()
)
Do you still read the wunderground? I read this a little while ago and it just struck me funny...
and if it is weakening, Praise God, no one wants Chris to visit![]()
I usually don't read the comments on the blogs.
Yeah, most people might think Manny looking at models on-line would have nothing to do with the weather.![]()
So if it goes through Southern Florida, how strong would it be at that point, does anyone know? My good friend lives on the Eastern coast of S. Florida and so I always panic for him when these things hit. The eye of Wilma went straight through his town on the way out last year and freaked me out. Not to mention what it did to him![]()
I just had a bad feeling when I heard the name Chris.
Thats from the latest forcast discussion from the NWS office here in San Antonio.ALL EYES ON TROPICAL STORM CHRIS AS IT ENTERS THE GULF OF MEXICO
LATE THIS WEEKEND...LIKELY AS A MINIMAL HURRICANE. THE MEDIUM
RANGE MODEL CONSENSUS IS FOR A DOMINANT UPPER HIGH OVER NORTHERN
MS...STEERING CHRIS DIRECTLY WEST ACROSS THE GULF.
You people need to move up here. All we have are volcanoes.
I was in St. Thomas yesterday and they had a tropical storm warning for this morning but it was just really calm n stuff... no rain at all... but I had a 7:00 flight out to St. Maarten and over here it was raining on and off... Barely any wind or anything...
We've had some pretty bad hurricanes here years back... 1995 was the worst for us... Hope Chris doesn't reach any of you guys... I know how bad they can be...
Are you talking about wunderground? Because that's not a blog... or do they have a blog associated with their website?
Their head meterologist runs a blog. It gets a ton of user comments of people who like to play weatherman like me. Most of them are quite stupid, however.
